Well, Alia Bhatt, how are you feeling tonight?

I'm feeling great, I'm feeling very excited.

Months of preparation, lots of conversation.

It all, you know, builds up to this one moment.

This moment. It's so real.

But it's also so special.

I can't wait to actually walk the carpet,

'cause it's quite stunning. I know.

And you're here representing India in saree,

a beautiful saree at that.

Thank you.

[Interviewer 1] Who designed this?

So this is designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

It is my second time at the Met,

but my first time wearing as saree.

And when I thought of the dress code, got enough time,

I felt like it needed something timeless,

and there's nothing more timeless than a saree.

[Interviewer 2] And how long did it take

to make your saree?

The work on it's truly exquisite.

Yeah. Oh, it's beautiful.

So this is all hand embroidery.

[Interviewer 1] Of course it is!

It's taken, let me get this number right,

because it's extremely important

when you talk about craftsmanship.

1,905 man hours and 163 craftsmen, embroidery workers,

everybody, to make this garment.

I'm unsurprised because the work is really sublime.

What goes into the dress?

You can see so many years of experience and talent.

And did you enjoy meeting the people

in the atelier who made it?

I actually haven't had the chance to meet them,

but I've seen so many videos

and I'm so excited to bring all of that out to the world

for everybody to see because it's taken a lot of love

and labor and a lot of effort.

And anything that's gotten love and time lasts forever.

I am, I'm obsessed. Like the garden!

Like the Garden of Time. The Garden of Time!
