𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 by Gianluigi Migliavacca, Claudio Carlini, Piergiovanni Domenighini, Claudio Zagano In #Europe, the evident signs of #climatechange that have characterized the last years have stressed even more the need for implementing a global #decarbonization #policy. Stringent #goals have been established by #national and #transnational policies, which call for replacing #fossilfuels with Renewable Energy Sources (#RES) for #electricgeneration. In parallel, a strong reduction in the usage of fossil fuels is requested also to the #industry and #transport sector. In most cases, this implies a partial or complete #electrification of the #processes, which puts even more the accent on the need to develop a #transition from fossil fuels to RES to generate #electricity. However, RES #generation is mostly characterized by an intermittent regime, which makes a high percentage of RES difficult to manage in the #electricsystem, typically characterized by a low level of flexibility and by the necessity to match load with generation at each instant. In this #framework, the #deployment of new flexible #resources (storage units and flexible loads) proves #strategic to foster a higher penetration of RES in the electricity system, thus increasing the potential for the implementation of the decarbonization policies. Hydrogen is in the spotlight in the #energy world, and it will remain so for the next years. In Europe, the necessity to integrate ever growing amounts of Renewable Energy Sources in order to implement the ambitious European decarbonization policy (package #Fitfor55) and to preserve the security of energy #supply (package #RepowerEU) are feeding the interest in #hydrogen. The #paper will provide a thorough #analysis of #prospects and #criticalities for the #development of #hydrogen both as a #carrier and as a #feedstock and, in definitive, as a #keyelement for the implementation of the European decarbonization policies. 🟢 First, the present #regulatory #framework will be highlighted, taking European Union as a main #reference since it has presently one of the most advanced hydrogen #legislations in the world. 🟢 Then, both hydrogen offer (#technologies and) and #demand (both as a feedstock and as an energy carrier) will be dealt with in detail. 🟢 Two additional #sections will take care to illustrate, respectively, the #interactions between #hydrogen and the #electricitygrid and the #issues related to the #creation of a #liquidhydrogen market. 🟢 Finally, a #conclusion section will wrap up and summarize the most urgent issues to be tackled to create a well-functioning #hydrogeneconomy Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico - RSE SpA, Università degli Studi di Perugia The download link of the 44 pages paper is here: (Preprints.org) https://lnkd.in/d9H9HnpE

🏃♂️ While physical activity (PA) interventions for older adults work wonders in controlled settings, making them a reality in everyday life is a whole different ball game. Study by Dr. Janet Boekhout, Mrs. Rieteke Hut, Dr. Jannique van Uffelen, Dr. Gesa Czwikla, and Dr. Denise Peels explores the challenges and opportunities of implementing PA programs for seniors, based on interviews with 31 key stakeholders. What did they find? Collaboration is key! From the complexity and costs of programs to the needs and beliefs of older adults, there are hurdles to jump over—but also plenty of motivators. 👵👴 Stakeholders view PA as a path to broader health benefits but stress the need to align programs with older adults' unique needs and goals. https://lnkd.in/g7hNqEut #ActiveAging #PhysicalActivity #HealthyLiving KU Leuven University of Bremen Open Universiteit Open Universiteit - Gezondheidspsychologie

The Covid-19 pandemic has been a whirlwind, shaking up our lives and mental well-being. But amidst the chaos, there’s a glimmer of hope. 🌈🧠 Dr. Željko Jovanović et al's study reveals the pandemic's impact on mental health and uncovers some surprising insights. Interestingly, half of the respondents believed they were at no risk of infection, and most were satisfied with government measures. The real twist? Younger individuals and the unemployed reported the highest levels of distress. In contrast, age and gender didn't significantly impact mental health. 📑 Tailored interventions are key to improving well-being. With the Paris Olympics 🏆 in full swing, it's a perfect moment to spotlight athlete psychology. With 748 participants, the findings show: 🔸 High evaluation of coaching behaviors 🔸 Low levels of sports-related anger and aggression 🔸 Positive coaching reduces aggression by 9% and anger by 6% Supportive coaches foster a healthier sports environment, keeping athletes emotionally balanced. https://lnkd.in/gMMxRnxt #Paris2024 #MentalHealth #SportsPsychology #AthleteWellbeing

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) can cause heart failure, arrhythmias, and sudden death. Findings suggest that a lower right ventriculo-arterial coupling (#RVAC) might be the key to understanding why some HCM patients experience severe symptoms while others don't. 💓 This could open doors to better diagnostic tools and targeted treatments for those battling this challenging condition. https://lnkd.in/gNDTx4jx #Cardiology #HeartHealth #HeartFailure

The Ghba subbasin in Northern Ethiopia faces major changes as climate and socio-economic shifts heat up. 💧🔮 The results from Dr. Mehari Hiben, Ph.D., P.E. et al at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology paint a picture of a warming future, with temperatures rising and water demand skyrocketing. By 2100, we could face a water demand surge exceeding 210 million cubic meters, leaving us with a real splash of a problem. 🚰 Access the preprint: https://lnkd.in/gk9w2Pqi #WaterSustainability #ClimateChange #WaterDemand
