Can't Buy Me Love star Amanda Peterson's tribute video

Following her sudden death on July 3 at the age of 43, Amanda Peterson’s family held a memorial service for the Can’t Buy Me Love star. During the ceremony on Saturday, her family shared a video of Peterson highlighting the actress’ personal and professional life.

Peterson kicked off her Hollywood career in 1982, with roles in Annie and TV series Father Murphy. She then appeared in series Boone and A Year in the Life before starring opposite Patrick Dempsey in 1987’s Can’t Buy Me Love. “In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young,” Dempsey tweeted of his co-star last week. “Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda’s family.”

After appearing in 1994’s Windrunner, Peterson left Hollywood and dealt with drug problems in more recent years. Peterson’s struggle with drugs led to multiple arrests between 2000 and 2012, People reports.

Still, in the 5-minute video, set to Eddie Vedder’s “High,” Peterson’s family remembers the actress as “precious” and a “child of God” who is now “home and free.”
