Lethal Weapon continues to be the sleeper hit of the freshman fall TV season. The remake of the beloved action franchise had a surge in ratings after its premiere, but don’t count Bingeworthy‘s Touré among its viewers.

“It’s strange to say the Lethal Weapon franchise sets a bar,” he begins, “but at least the first was a really good movie, not a film, but it’s a really good movie.” Touré finds a disconnect between the dynamic casting of Danny Glover and Mel Gibson in the original film and Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford in the TV remake. The Bingeworthy host says, “This show just misses out on that core element.”

Meanwhile, Touré’s co-host Jessica Shaw defends the casting and calls Wayans’ performance, “funny” and “solid.” While Shaw doesn’t think the series is completely enrapturing, she thinks it’s the perfect sort of show to have on while multi-tasking. “I’m binging because I have laundry to fold,” she jokes.
