'A sundress is typically a knee-length or tea length dress that's sleeveless typically not always. It's summery with bright colors or even flowers,' one commenter explained.
One woman said it was a 'dress you would wear to frolic in a meadow with flowers,' as another woman described the style as 'a long flowy dress with those little puff sleeves' in a floral print.
Many simple wondered why so many men on social media were calling for women to don sundresses this summer when they didn't actually know what silhouette they're describing.

He explained that a tight dress cannot be a sundress, whether it's body-con or a tennis dress.

According to Florida-based designer Anthony's, 'sundresses are typically made of lightweight and breathable fabrics like cotton, rayon, and linen.'
'They tend to be sleeveless or have thin straps, designed for hot, humid weather. Sundresses can have different hemlines, from mini to full-length. However, midi to maxi length is the most common,' its website read.
