I have a huge issue with Australian underwear right now - and I'm not alone: 'It's impossible'

A woman has complained after noticing underwear sold in Australia appears to be 'shrinking' and inconsistently sized.

The bargain shopper took her frustration to Reddit, saying she was struggling to understand why her regular underwear size no longer fits, despite her remaining the same weight.

The petite woman, who is ordinarily an Australian size 6-8, claimed clothing in her size made by an Aussie budget brand is now too large for her to wear, but the underwear she is used to buying in size 10 is now too small.

'Is it just me?' she wrote, explaining that she now has to wear a size 12 in some brands.

Others were quick to agree, saying they had the same issues.

One woman said that sizes have always been unreliable with Australian underwear, asking for someone to simply 'make it make sense'.

Another shopper said she had experienced the same frustrating problem when shopping between Australian brands, and also between different designs of underwear in Australia .

'Yes I’m actually really annoyed because... I bought some 12s recently and they feel a bit tighter than I would like. Shame because I bought a few too. And some are okay - little bikini briefs for example, but the high rise ribbed ones seem quite small for a 12,' she said.

Many were left out of pocket due to the understandable no-return policy on underwear.

Another angry customer claimed they had wasted money after buying a size 14 from one brand which turned out to be so small she had to check whether they were a 14 ladies and not a 14 children's.

After deciding to then purchase a size 14 from a different Australian retailer in the hopes of a better fit, the new underwear then turned out to be too big.
