The Earl and Countess of Wessex are known for their down-to-earth nature, and it appears this fuss-free approach to royal life extends to their interior design choices.
Prince Edward, 56, offered royal followers a look at their delightfully normal home office at Bagshot Park, Surrey, when he appeared via videolink yesterday to formally open the Nightingale Hospital in Bristol.
The father-of-two, who has been at the forefront of the royals' work to support the nation during the coronavirus pandemic, was seen surrounded by touching reminders of family life, including stuffed animals, homemade artwork and framed photographs.

Like many members of the royal family, Sophie and Edward are keen horsemen and are often seen riding in Windsor Park with their children, Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12.
Indeed Lady Louise has followed in grandfather Prince Philip's footsteps and taken up carriage driving as her hobby.
Edward gives a nod to this shared pasttime with a beautiful horse statuette on one of the top shelves. It is thought the figurine is made out of a type of metal.
Animals appear frequently on the bookshelf, with a stuffed lion toy and a cartoon dog seen elsewhere in the image.

Tucked away at the back of the bottom shelf appears to be a framed piece of homemade artwork, perhaps done by Louise or James.
There are also several framed family photographs, including what appears to be a black and white shot from a black tie engagement and a snap taken outside in the sunshine, although the figures in the images are difficult to distinguish.
The majority of the shelves are covered in rows of well-thumbed books, both hardback and paperback.

It recalls similar photographs released by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, who were both seen surrounded by books at their Scottish home of Birkhall.
The video of Edward comes days after his wife Sophie released a message filmed in her kitchen at the Surrey property.
Three vintage fine china tea sets, including a pot, sugar dish and cups and saucers, were visible behind her through the glass door cabinets, adorned with elegant silver knobs.
