How far away from our boundary fence and house should a trampoline be under privacy law, please? We have to keep all doors, windows, air vents and curtains closed because of our neighbours' noisy children on a trampoline and in a kids swimming pool abutting our boundary fence. When I finally sent a polite text to my neighbour requesting them to quieten down, the response was 'no', followed by several malicious communications. What can I do? This can't continue.

MARKET REPORT: FTSE 250 hits its highest level in more than two years amid improving outlook for UK economy
London's mid-cap stock index reached its strongest level since April 2022, rising 0.1 per cent, or 13.98 points, to 21,202.89. It comes after better-than-expected GDP figures this week showed the UK economy grew by 0.4 per cent in May. That has also lifted the pound to its highest level in a year - $1.2988 against the dollar. A stronger pound tends to dampen the FTSE 100's global constituent, weakening the sterling value of its overseas earnings but it still managed to rise 29.57 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 8252.91.

As political uncertainty drives their prices down... Look to Europe for some star performers
France should be in a state of high excitement ahead of the start of the Paris Olympics later this month. Instead, the nation is in a state of turmoil following a deadlocked election. So what does this mean for Europe's pharmaceutical, software and other companies, which are seen as the nearest thing to America's 'Magnificent Seven' tech stocks? If you want to take a European flutter this Olympic summer, here's what you need to know.
Younger generations are more likely to shun making a will but that's a big mistake: How to ensure your last wishes are met - and family is protected
Many people are misinformed about the practicalities, with a significant number believing they can email a loved one with their wishes. Others wrongly think they can sign their will electronically, a survey by Lime Solicitors found. Not making a will risks legal complications and costly disputes over estates. Find out how to ensure your will is valid and reflects your wishes - and what happens if you die without one..
Labour's 'political stability' will boost the UK stock market, says investing giant BlackRock - these funds could profit
US investment giant BlackRock's proprietary research business has backed UK stocks to outperform, with foreign investors pulled in by 'relative political stability'. The BlackRock Investment Institute this week moved to an 'overweight' position on London-listed stocks on the basis that a new government with a sizeable majority will encourage investors to recognise 'attractive valuations'.
From zero to trashed in 3 seconds: Lotus debuts its one-off £2m Evija X electric hypercar at Goodwood Festival of Speed - then immediately crashes it
The one-off Lotus Evija X hypercar crashed a few seconds into its 'dynamic debut' at Goodwood Festival of Speed's hill climb on Thursday. The all-electric track version of the new Evija hypercar, which is said to be worth around £2million, veered head-on into the straw bales, promptly obliterating the front end of the unique vehicle. The driver was unharmed and it remains unclear what caused the crash.
CRANE ON THE CASE: Al Pacino event was cancelled but we never got our £485 back - now we've found out the organiser was jailed for fraud...
One of my good friends is a big fan of the actor Al Pacino. It was her 60th birthday last year, so in December 2022 I booked tickets for the two of us, and another friend, to see him in person at a live 'in conversation' event in London. It cost £485. It was supposed to take place in April 2023 but shortly before we were told it was cancelled because Pacino had a diary change'. We waited to see if it would be rescheduled, but it wasn't so I contacted the company that put the event on, An Experience With, to ask for a refund. Nearly 15 months since the event was cancelled, I still don't have my money. The company has given various excuses. At one point I was told I needed to wait for 90 days before asking for a refund. Another time, it said I should raise a dispute with my bank as that would be the 'quickest resolution'. It also said it couldn't pay me back because of issues with 'funds held in the US'. I've now seen some concerning things about the company online and am worried I'll never get my £485. I have also tried Paypal, which I used to pay for the tickets, and Eventbrite, the website which sold them, but with no luck. Can you help?
More first-time buyers in danger of paying mortgages into retirement: What you need to know about longer terms
First-time buyers are increasingly likely to be paying a mortgage in their retirement, as more take on loans lasting 30 or 35 years. Those getting on the ladder for the first time, are opting for lengthy mortgage terms in order to make their monthly repayments more affordable. While this saves them money from month-to-month, it means they will ultimately be paying off their mortgage for a longer period of time.
EXCLUSIVENationwide to scrap passbooks and replace them with a 'modernised' version - but staff fear it may lead to a 'mountain of complaints'
Nationwide Building Society will scrap passbooks in their current form from the start of February 2025, we can reveal. It will replace the passbooks with a new Savings Wallet. One staff member said boss Debbie Crosbie is on 'a mad dash' to rearrange the society network ahead of the proposed Virgin Money takeover.

The Capri is back...but not as you know it! Ford's cult classic name returns for its new electric SUV - with a little help from Eric Cantona!
Ford has taken the daring decision to relaunch the iconic nameplates after 40 years away. But not all fans will be happy to see it used for a £40k+ electric SUV baring little resemblance to the original. Ford says the battery powered Capri 'continues the story of the iconic cult classic' and 'will inject some soul into the world of EVs'. The car maker added: 'The legend is back,' - a phrase used by Eric Cantona (pictured bottom right) during a podcast appearance with Gary Lineker as it is revealed that the former Manchester United player's recent series of viral goat stunts have been orchestrated by Ford to promote Capri's renaissance.

LABOUR ELECTION AND YOUR MONEY
What does Labour's election win mean for your money? From tax, to pensions and homes, what Keir Starmer plans to do
The manifesto was notably light on detail, but now the votes are in we will finally find out what Labour intends to do on regaining power after 14 years of Tory government. New Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has pledged to prioritise economic growth. Here are the proposals we know about so far and the things that have been left unsaid and what Labour in power could mean for your finances.
Should we pay our mortgage off quicker, or use the cash to boost our pensions? DAVID HOLLINGWORTH replies
We are both 49 and have a plan to downsize once our daughter, who is 10, leaves home to help pay for retirement. My question is, is it worth trying to pay the mortgage off faster? We could probably put a £20,000 lump sum towards it, and make an overpayment of £500 each month. This would mean we could pay it off in six years rather than 18. But would we be better off just putting the money into pensions instead?
I saved £100k into my pension last year: How do I protect my pot against any tax changes by Labour? STEVE WEBB replies
I contributed approximately £100,000 to my pension in the 23/24 tax year, taking advantage of the abolition of the lifetime allowance and using unused allowances from previous years. I now wish put my pension into drawdown to avoid any potential tax changes or anti-forestalling legislation introduced by a new Government.
Which companies have the best customer service? Survey shows top 10... but most are below expectations
Customer service levels at the country's biggest companies have deteriorated, according to a report. The latest UK Customer Satisfaction Index by the Institute of Customer Service asked 60,000 people what they thought of the customer service at 275 major firms - and found that satisfaction was at its lowest level since 2010. Retailers top the customer satisfaction list, with seven of the top 10 organisations in that sector.
