Brit tourist, 23, dies 'after falling head-first while trying to climb off balcony' on Greek party island of Zante

A British tourist has died after plunging five feet to the ground 'head-first' while trying to climb off a hotel balcony on the Greek party island of Zante.

According to the Zakynthos Police Department, the 23-year-old man on Wednesday had stepped on to the handrail as he tried to get off of a hotel balcony.

He then lost his balance and fell around five feet head-first.

Local news outlet Parapolitika reported that the man tried to stand up twice but fell over.

He was rushed to Zakynthos hospital, where he later died.

Just a few hours before, another British man reportedly fell from a first floor balcony in the same Greek town, leaving him with serious injuries.

While there does not seem to be any third-party involvement in either of the incidents, Zakynthos Police Department is carrying out an investigation.

Both incidents come just a few months after a 21-year-old British man plunged to his death from a fifth-floor hotel balcony while on holiday with his girlfriend in Turkey.

The man had reportedly fallen from his hotel room in the tourist hot-spot of Antalya.

Police and medics rushed to the scene in the district of Alanya, with the seriously injured tourist being taken to hospital.

He later died of his injuries despite doctors' best efforts to save his life, according to reports.
