Gareth Southgate and his England squad touched down in Germany on Monday to begin a campaign they hope will end in glory on July 14.

The Three Lions are one of the favourites to lift the trophy and have spared no expense to ensure the squad is in the most comfortable of surroundings during their stay.

Harry Kane and Co. will be staying at the Weimarer Land Spa and Golf resort in Blankenhain - a town with a population of less than 7,000. Their seclusion is deliberate, with Southgate reportedly keen to avoid the 'circus' that became of England's Baden-Baden camp during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

However, other nations have not been plagued by the same issues over the years. Indeed, many have opted to set up camp in the same place they used 18 years.

Ahead of the action getting underway on Friday, Mail Sport takes a look at where the other tournament contenders are staying over the next month.

Germany - Adidas Home Ground, Herzogenaurach

The hosts were reportedly keen on pitching up at the Weimarer but faced pressure from DFB sponsor Adidas to make the most of their custom-build facility. And you can see why.

Die Mannschaft will be staying at the company's headquarters in Herzogenaurach on a site called Home Ground. The complex was built four years ago and was used by the national team during the pan-European Euro 2020 three years ago.

The site is a sprawling collection of cabin-like structures which, according to the design team, 'centres around the well-being of the team'.

The units, made entirely of prefabricated cross-laminated timber, are set to feel like a village in a forest.

Italy - Four Seasons Hotel, Iserlohn

The defending champions have decided to situate themselves in the city of Iserlohn in North Rhine-Westphalia, chosen in large part for its proximity to the side's first two games in Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen.

The Four Seasons Hotel Iserlohn is not part of the famous chain, and is instead a family-run business. It is surrounded by forests and lakes, creating a natural and peaceful environment for its guests.

The entire hotel has been shut down for the players, who will be able to relax in a large indoor pool, while there is also a spa that contains a sauna and a rain shower. Rooms are also spacious, with many having balconies to look out at the surrounding forests.

Italians are known for their passion for coffee, and the hotel has its own coffee roastery to allow guests to make their own.

Luciano Spalletti's side will need some downtime, particularly if they go deep into the tournament, and the hotel has a mini golf course for them to try their hand at.

Spain - The Oschberghof, Donaueschingen

Spain, who have won the Euros on three occasions, will be staying at The Oschberghof hotel in Donaueschingen, a town located in the Black Forest in South-West Germany.

The five-star resort has 127 rooms and suites, and no fewer than five restaurants. The Osch Noir restaurant is the pick of the bunch, having been awarded two Michelin stars.

Golf is often the pastime chosen by the England players in their downtime, and that looks likely to be the case for their Spanish counterparts who will have their choice of three course and 45 holes in total.

Table tennis and table football will also be on offer and may act as team bonding exercises during the tournament.

France - Best Western Premier Park Hotel & Spa, Bad Lippspringe

Didier Deschamps' men have opted to train at the home stadium of second division side Paderborn, and they will be staying at the nearby four-star Best Western Premier Park Hotel & Spa in Bad Lippspringe, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The resort contains an indoor swimming pool and spa centre, while players will be served regional and Mediterranean food from the Karl Restaurant.

The setting is a picturesque one, with the hotel situated beside Teutoburg Forest, and there is a large water fountain to greet the players every time they arrive at their base.

Portugal - Monastery Gate, Harsewinkel

Portugal will be staying at the same hotel they chose for the 2006 World Cup - Monastery Gate. This is once again located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, but on this occasion in the town of Harsewinkel.

Eighteen years ago, Portugal made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup, but will want to go a couple of steps further at this summer's Euros.

There are 151 available rooms in the four-star hotel, with two restaurants and a bistro on offer to guests.

Golf could be the order of the day when it comes to winding down once more as there are four courses in the near vicinity of the hotel, while the hotel itself provides a spa area, bicycles to rent and a converted barn that has now been turned into a gym.
