Manchester United held surprise talks with Fulham head coach Marco Silva as they contemplated Erik ten Hag’s future.
Dutchman Ten Hag is remaining as Old Trafford boss following an end of season review conducted by owners Ineos.
United spoke to a number of managers before deciding to stick with Ten Hag.
Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Frank held talks with Ineos in the week prior to the FA Cup final victory against Manchester City.
Thomas Tuchel was also among the managers to have met with United representatives.

And it has now emerged that Fulham boss Silva also held talks with Ineos chiefs as they searched for a potential successor to Ten Hag.
Silva has bolstered his reputation at Craven Cottage. Having initially led the club back to the Premier League in 2022, the Portuguese has built a team that comfortably stayed in the top-flight in their two previous seasons.
Silva’s future could come under scrutiny again this summer as he emerges as a possible replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest.
Santo’s future at the City Ground is unclear heading into the summer and Silva has admirers at Forest.
