The defensive midfielder was an ever-present for the Bundesliga side during the group stages, playing in all six matches as they finished second behind Madrid.
Kramer has also played the bulk of the Bundesliga season so far, featuring 13 times for Gladbach - who currently sit seventh, just four points off the Champions League spots in what is a bunched up table.
Kramer joined Gladbach on loan initially in 2013, before signing permanently in 2016, and it was in his first year at the club where he certainly made a name for himself.
In 2014, he earned a call-up to Germany's World Cup squad in Brazil, having only made his international debut in May.

Kramer had played just 12 minutes in Brazil before he was drafted in as a last minute replacement for the injured Sami Khedira in the final against Argentina.
But early on during the final, he was involved in a heavy collision with Argentina defender Ezequiel Garay before he was replaced 14 minutes later due to concussion.
Immediately following the final, Kramer admitted that he couldn't remember any of the first half of the game.
'I can't really remember much of the game,' he told German newspaper Die Welt. 'I don’t know anything at all about the first half. I thought later that I left the game immediately after the tackle.'
