  • She said the missing bag incident had left her 'angry and upset'

An outraged cruise passenger has told how the company she was traveling with 'dropped her bag in the ocean' and it was only recovered thanks to a stranger's efforts.

Lindsey Hargesheimer, from Denver, Colorado, aired her grievances on TikTok, where she made an almost 10-minute-long video detailing the chain of events.

In the clip, the wedding photographer explains that she realized her bag was missing when she boarded a Celebrity Cruises ship in Amsterdam with her family, and she was the only one not to receive her luggage.

When she called the cruise line to get an update, they confirmed they could not find her bag and the AirTag she had placed inside of it was not working.

However later, when she turned her phone on, she immediately got a call stating that someone from the Amsterdam port had pulled her case 'out of the ocean... out of the canal.'

While there were no official tags on the bag stating where it was going, the stranger was able to contact Lindsey as she had her phone number and details written on a tag.

Lindsey said she was 'angry and upset and distraught' about the mishap as all of her belongings for a two-week trip were inside the bag.

The contents included clothing, medications, supplements, make up, toiletries, camera equipment and even family jewelry.

To make matters worse, Lindsey says she was initially given no compensation for the incident or vouchers to buy new items in the onboard stores.

The only items she was given in the interim included a T-shirt, roll-on deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste.

She told viewers, while videoing from the floor of her cabin: 'This is absolutely unacceptable...

'The [staff] all realize how f**king ridiculous it is because they don't believe me when I tell them.'

The content creator continued: 'I personally believe the Celebrity Cruise Line have not handled this situation well at all. I don't feel taken care of for a mistake that they made.

'Like, you dropped my bag in the ocean! It is one thing if it was left at port but you dropped my bag in the ocean and didn't report it.'

Lindsey notes that while she was pleased her bag has been found, she has no idea how much water damage her bag has sustained.

'I have no idea what I'm expecting. I have no idea if I can even use anything that is in my bag... I have nothing,' she says, while trying to hold back tears.

In a follow up TikTok, Lindsey gives viewers an update and reveals that she will not be getting her bag back for the entirety of her cruise.

Instead, she must inspect the bag once she is a back in the Netherlands in over a week's time with a port worker and a Celebrity Cruises member of staff on hand to see what damage has been done.

She says: 'At this point, I've honestly just accepted that everything in that bag is not able to be salvaged in any way shape or form.

'[Plus], it's going to be sitting at the port for another 10 days getting even more disgusting.'

In a bid to have some other clothing to wear, Lindsey went shopping in one of the ports and was able to buy two outfits, a pair of walking shoes and some toiletries.

She says Celebrity Cruises has since also given her $400 in credit, along with two laundry vouchers.

In a meeting, she was also told that the cost of replacing all of her damaged items will be reimbursed.

She said: 'I don't have it in writing but that is what I've been told.'

To date, Lindsey's TikTok's have amassed almost 100,000 views with many sympathizing with her.

One viewer wrote: 'I'm so sorry this has happened. It's crazy that they have not compensated you for anything. I'm concerned about your medications!'

Another commenter, who claimed to have previously worked on a Celebrity Cruises ship also offered a tip, writing: 'Past Celebrity crew member. Next time you go to guest services, ask to set up a meeting with the HOTEL DIRECTOR. Not the general ship manager, the hotel. Highest of the high onboard to help in this situation!'

In response to commenters stating that she was irresponsible for losing sight of her bag, the photographer explains that she was traveling with her grandmother who is in a wheelchair, so she handed her bag to a member of staff so she could push the chair onto the ship.

'That is the last I saw of them. Someone at the port took my bags from me,' Lindsey revealed.
