The Project took time out on Wednesday to mock the Seven Network over its decision to introduce horoscopes as part of its regular news bulletin.

In an extended comedy skit, guest co-host Kate Langbroek, 58, appeared as 'astrologer' 'Luna Langbroek' in gold headpiece with a white feather, before reading out absurd horoscopes full of childish double entendre and side-splitting gags.

Langbroek was introduced by co-host Georgie Tunny, who was quick to reveal what she really thought of Seven's push for new viewers.

'A major Australian television network will start reporting horoscopes within its news bulletins, which is obviously ridiculous,' she began, before turning to 'Luna' and asking: 'Who would do that?'

'Who indeed?' replied 'Luna' hovering over an astrology chart.

Then the gags flew thick and fast.

‘It’s going to be a fruitful month for Aquarians, Virgo's, Leo's and Capricorn's, with each of them either coming into money or losing money or in some instances neither or either,' she began.

'I think that one might turn out to be true,' Waleed Aly replied.

Elsewhere, 'Luna' shifted her focus to fellow panelist and Scorpio Sam Taunton, predicting he could expect a career change.

'You must surround yourself with supporters... [and] have faith in Uranus, it can take you a long way,' added 'Luna'.

'What does that mean?' asked a puzzled Sam.

The Project's dinner time hilarity comes after Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson also took a brutal swipe at Seven over its decision to use horoscopes and a comedian in their 6pm bulletin.

'So they're gonna go, "Sagittarius. keep an eye out for the colour orange and your lucky number is 5." What's that going to do for anyone?' Kyle mocked.

Channel Seven recently confirmed a controversial change to its TV news bulletins - that they will feature an astrology report from Natasha 'Astro Tash' Weber - amid division at the network over a radical shake-up as the axe falls on 150 jobs at the channel.

Multiple insiders claimed on Tuesday there is now a tense atmosphere at the station, where some staff are 'miserable' and taking sick days to look for jobs elsewhere after a new regime took power intent on shaking things up.

A '20 second' astrology report after the weather on the 6pm bulletin and a weekly comedy skit on Friday's at 6.57pm by Mark Humphries are some of the major changes that viewers will notice over the next week.

Daily Mail Australia has been told that morale was already 'at an all time low' after the Spotlight show's Bruce Lehrmann fiasco and the sacking of veteran reporter Robert Ovadia.

And the raft of new changes in the wake of new boss Mr De Ceglie's appointment are being viewed with trepidation by some long-time network news insiders - with one critic describing the changes as 'depressing'.
