'I have therapy and coping mechanisms. You can never get rid of it, so you have to learn to live with it.'

Perrie has just launched her solo career after rising to fame on The X Factor as part of girlband Little Mix.

After making the huge leap to go it alone, Perrie said Girls Aloud star Cheryl has become a great mentor, having done it herself.

'I always go to Cheryl. I love her. My manager, who used to manage her, had a birthday party recently and I was just letting rip [about things that had happened to me.] And Cheryl was like, "Yep, tell me more." She’s just the best.'

Perrie said when her son Axel, who is set to turn three next month, she wanted to step out of the spotlight.

She said: 'I wanted to live in the moment and experience all the firsts with him… I loved being in the baby bubble, spending time with my family.

'I didn’t care [about the limelight] – the worst FOMO would be missing out on Axel'.

The songstress is engaged to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but she isn't planning on tying the knot anytime soon.

'I don’t want to do it on top of releasing an album and being a mum. I want to enjoy the process', she said.

Perrie has previously shared details about her crippling anxiety which left her feeling like she would die if she was left alone.

And back in 2019, she praised her Little Mix bandmates for stopping her quitting her music career after she found herself in a 'dark place'.

She said her mother would take her phone with her when she shopped so she could be on hand if Perrie suffered an attack, as well as accompanying her to work.

The star also admitted she feared not being able to perform, tour, do interviews and meet fans due to the severity of her condition.

Last month, Perrie dropped her second single Tears, the follow-up to April's Forget About Us.

Her debut solo track was number one for two weeks on the Big Top 40 chart and peaked inside the top 10 of the Official Charts.

Where Forget About Us was an Ed Sheeran pop ballad with country music influence, Tears is smooth soul with an '80s vibe.

In the song, Perrie laments the tears she wasted on an ex and, while saying she knows she will never get them back, she vows he will never see her cry again.
