Outdoor experts and saboteurs, get your homemade crab traps ready: Outlast is coming back for Season 2. Just like the first time around, the raw competition series features 16 lone wolves competing for a million dollars, with only one rule that could make or break their chances of victory: They must be part of a team to win. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, if Season 1’s dramatic twists and unexpected turns proved anything, it’s that nothing in the Alaskan wilderness comes easy, especially when nature isn’t your only enemy.

Each player must strategize how to best approach the game. Should they form alliances? What valuable skills can they offer? How do they keep from getting sick? From battling bone-shivering temperatures to getting handy with a limited toolkit, see how the cast of Outlast Season 2 betray or form bonds with fellow players in order to maximize their own chances at winning. Here’s everything to know about Season 2.

Eric Shevchenko, Tonia Willman, Drake Vliem, Julio LaBoy, Drew Haas, Zach Owens, Sammy Norris, Brendon Ash, Joey DiDesidero, Emily Johnston, Joseph Malbrought, Tina Grimm, Bayo Hernandez, Meghan Buchanan, and Deontre Thomas gathered together in ‘Outlast’ Season 2.

Who are the survivalists of Outlast Season 2?

This season’s cast is a diverse mix of adventure seekers from across the US. Some competitors are in desperate need of the cash prize, while others are there for the thrill of the game. Learn more about them in our cast guide here.

Where is Season 2 of Outlast set?

Competitors are dropped off in Little Duncan Bay, Alaska, a natural harbor surrounded by forest land. The harsh conditions quickly become life-threatening without adequate equipment. Freezing temperatures, constant wetness, limited sunlight, and few fresh-water sources are just some of the challenges that players face throughout the competition.

What are the rules of Outlast?

Similar to Season 1 of Outlast, there are four teams in the game: the Alpha Camp, Bravo Camp, Charlie Camp, and Delta Camp. Each camp starts with four players, but players don’t have to end with the same team they start with. The object of the game is for your team to survive the longest, and then to win a final challenge.

Throughout the competition, players are free to approach other teams, whether it’s because they want to increase their chances of winning with a stronger team or if everyone else in their original team has been eliminated. Players have one day to find a new team — if they fail to join a team within that timeframe, they must forfeit. Players can can quit anytime by shooting a flare into the sky. (Players are also forced to quit if they’re deemed too sick by the medics and need emergency treatment.)

When does Outlast Season 2 premiere?

First batch of Outlast Season 2 episodes drop on Sept. 4, then the second batch drops on Sept. 11.
