The Bear: Season 3 Reviews

Aug 11, 2024

80/100 - so season 3 wasnt as good as season 1 or 2. they had some cool backstory and character development episodes but these should have happened in the first or second seasons. still really good but just didnt quite measure up the the first.

Short season with to many character builder episodes. That should have done in the first or second season. More Bear less side stories.

What a complete indulgent waste. I wish I could have that time back. Let me save you yours, but summarizing the season: 1. Extreme closeups to the point where you can count the pores 2. Overacting 3. The feeling that there was no script, that actors whose gift is not screenwriting were left to invent their own dialogue 4. More gratuitous f-bombs (but aren't they all gratuitous?) than a stadium can hold 5. ZERO plot advancement. ZERO character arc. ZERO resolution. We end where we start. What had given the previous seasons charm was either the hope or the experience of character arcs and some redemption. This season utterly lacked either. So there. Your time is saved. You're welcome.

Warning: Do not watch before bedtime. Anxiety, angst, miscommunication coupled with extreme close ups (See the emotion? See!) and high end food porn. By the season finale I found myself wishing the everyone would go to a restaurant that turned out to be the one from The Menu. Season 1 had storylines and progression. Season 2 slowed that down. Season 3... the Tina and the Sugar/Mom episode were the only 2 enjoyable episodes, the only 2 with any development. The Bear seems to have fallen down a hole since season 1. A dark, tight, hairy, ursine hole. Or maybe it crawled up it?

Ten episodes and nothing happened, literally!! What a waste of time this whole season!

Season 3 is a joke, nobody cares about the character biops to be honest, we watch the show for the struggle, the food and the journey. My wife and I resubscribed to Disney for this show and regret it deeply. Trying to get through this show has been painful.

Great opening episode for the 3rd season. Still loving the show!

I loved this show. Season 3 was so boring I got frustrated even watching it. The entire season could have been one 1-hour episode and then they could have moved on. Instead they made this season drag on forrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvvveeeeerrrrr. It was painful. The Bear jumped the shark. I’ve never seen a better example of jumping the shark than this show’s 3rd season. The half-star I’m giving it is for the Fack brothers comedic elements, loved the concept of “haunting”, and their general vibe could be its own whole show (which would be better than this).

Duller than asphalt. None of the vibrancy, none of the exuberance, none of the character arcs, none of the risk taking of the first two seasons. None of the Chicago backdrop -- which, like the kitchen, are central characters in the first two seasons. Dialog is treacle, extended scenes continue long after any point or any message is made, and every episode seems to be shot from an iphone -- all tight close ups of faces - and neglecting the use of the settings or camera framing to evoke mood, to add tension. The Flak brothers, who are supposedly some sort of 'comic' relief,' jammer nonsensically, the 'tender' or 'intimate' moments are pretentious and endless and hollow, the use of the sound track is an cheap and vain attempt to cover for the lack of creativity and intelligence in the writing, and the actress who plays Sydney simply can not act -- she talks the words, she does not know how to use her hands or her body or her face as vehicles of expression. Massive disappointment.

This season is the definition of not having a story and improvising like there’s no tomorrow. So sad for a great show to see such a ridiculous story that doesn’t go anywhere.

I still love it, still deep, makes a lot of sense how it is developing, and I want to see more. It wasnt as exiting as season 2, but I think nothing would ever be so awesome. This is a transition season, we are seeing the ups and downs and all the strugle, mostly strugle, they need to go through to become great. This is not as pumped as other parts, but quite a necesary one to tell the story how it should be told I guess. So keep it upp

Season 3 was terrible.

Great season, laying the groundwork for the final one.

While it’s certainly not the popular opinion, I found this season incredible. Pacing can be slow, sure - and it certainly is a standard build up season that many great shows have, but I think the season does a great job conveying complicated emotional situations in an effective way. Those looking for a simple plot line where they open a restaurant will be disappointed. But any individual who has ever been driven borderline-mad by passion, had sleepless nights thinking about how to improve and perfect something, or reflected for years on shortcomings will find something haunting and beautiful within a lot of these episodes. As a bonus, it’s lovely seeing such legendary chefs in some of the episodes and fine dining nerds will no doubt relish in watching Keller prepare a chicken or Achatz field fan-boy questions.

I loved s1, I liked s2, and well uh- this season is something. It has good episodes but that's about it. I couldn't even finish it without getting bored. Season one felt like a first love, season two felt like falling in love and season three felt like falling out of love. Could this season be considered a filler season?

Increíble cómo arruinaron la serie en la tercera temporada. Ver secar pintura en la pared es más interesante que el bodrio de la última temporada

Aug 6, 2024

The first 2 seasons I really enjoyed. This 3rd one felt like they just had filler to get paid to do a season. I just didn’t get it…. Maybe I’m not artistic enough.

I wish I could say that I loved this season as I did the others but I cant. Some elements of the film making were beautiful but quite frankly others felt painfully pretentious and convoluted. I realized that the pacing of this season was significantly slower but looking back, I do think that accurately reflects on the traumatized and depressive state that most of the characters are in. This in between phase where they reached success and must find another way to cling on and search for meaning. Carmy's lack of character development was incredibly annoying to me but also I think that made him incredibly realistic. Side note, there were some brilliant episodes (the tina episode directed by Edibiri, Nat's pregnancy, and unpopular opinion: I loved the last episode) but those few amazing episodes didnt make the season amazing (unlike fishes and forks in season 2). I might rewatch this season, it was still amazing television for what it's worth. But when compared to the other seasons of the bear, I believe there is a slight disparity in the quality.

So so so disappointing. I couldn’t wait for this season and it has really left me cold. Seems like the writers were trying to be cerebral and way outside the box but for me it was annoying and exhausting. The screaming and yelling and profanity was only overshadowed by the absolute stupidity of the “ haunting” scenario which continued ad nauseum throughout with the Abbott and Costello duo looking like complete buffoons. For me this season is a train wreck.

Season 3 of "The Bear" continues to delve deep into its main protagonist character's arcs with great acting, directing and overall a great direction. However the season feels like a step down from its sophomere predecessor by slowing the pace and making the season feels boring and not compelling enough leaving us with a cliffhanger that frustrates the viewer.
