Untrustworthy - Do not sign up

AFC was a complete disappointment. Save your money in an account instead of signing up with them. They seemed trustworthy during the sign-up phase, but they turned out to be like a terrible car salesman, finding any excuse not to pay claims. I signed up for a three-year plan, and they assured me all claims would be covered under the contract. After paying the full amount, I had an issue where both my electrical wiring and an outlet needed to be replaced. Initially, I was told they would cover the outlet up to $150 and will cover part of the wiring. However, today I was informed that only the outlet would be covered because the re-wiring is considered part of the outlet. These are two separate work orders. This is especially frustrating if you’re unfamiliar with the work needed. Do not invest in this home warranty; it’s not worth it.

Horrible Company

IMO, these people are scammers. It took them 6 days to dispatch someone to inspect my very poorly functioning air conditioner. It took 2 more days for them to provide a "resolution" (all of this while it's 115 degrees outside).

Their resolution was to offer to pay $200 towards an estimated $4500 repair.

Of course I had to pay $100 to file the incident report, not to mention the monthly fees.

Think twice before doing business with this company!

This AFC company is very bad

This AFC company is very bad. It's a very BAD warranty company. Don't waste time and money in a warranty that will not cover most of your house items. They say they will cover but they do not. It will cost your own service fee of $75 (for my plan) for the technician to come out and do the diagnostic of your problem. That's normal process. But the company won't cover most of your items or will cover with the very minimum only. I end up to pay from my own pocket money to do the repair for washer issue and another pay from own pocket for the normal Air Condition problem. The Sale/Marketing person sold you everything very good on the first place to get you to the contract. But after that, you will learn the service(s) 're very BAD. I bet you will be paying from your own pocket for the service(s) you'd need at least one in the covering period. I have 2 services and they refused to pay. I will have to cancel the policy and will look for a different company. Keep in mind, we buy a home warranty for a peace of mind (keep things functioning properly in our house), not looking for a headache. It's a very bad experience with this company. I have to give it a rate of 1 star.

Trash company

Trash company. They have a ton of exclusions and will look at any reason to deny a claim. For big items like AC they’ll expect you to do preventive maintenance yearly and then also ask if you completed recommended maintenance. If you don’t they won’t pay. Even if they do they’ll give you the value of the metal which is typically less than $500 for a non fixable AC. At the end of the day it’s honestly not worth it because they’re not in business to work on your behalf.

Don’t do it. It’s bad.

Notice that all the good reviews are noted as “invited”

This is the absolute worst home warranty company I have ever used. They take your money and then find a way to keep from paying any claims. I bought a refrigerator just because I was tired of dealing with them. 6 weeks ago, I replaced a microwave. They approved the claim. I’m still waiting for an e check (yes, an electronic check) to come. I just inquired about it and thier response was basically, we’ve had some storms and had to do some system upgrades, we don’t know when we will issue the e check”. An e check. When things are going right, it takes them 4-6 weeks to send you an E CHECK. On the bright side they’ve always responded quickly. Again, absolutely useless. I’ve used a total of 8 different companies over the years, usually who ever is presented at the close of the house. AFC is the absolute worst by miles.

This business will say anything to get…

This business will say anything to get you to purchase the policy. Brian Walker will promise you everything and then leave you hanging out to dry.My dishwasher leaked, they sent out a technician who could not figure out why the dishwasher leaked and left without fixing the problem or recommended fix. That cost me $125 on top of my monthly premium and the dishwasher was still unusable. Fine, bought a washer. A month ago, I made a claim on my air conditioner. It took weeks to find a company that would deal with AFC, And even then, only with me acting as the middleman. After nearly a month of back-and-forth, AFC has decided they’re not covering the diagnosis. This is antithetical to what Brian Walker told me would happen when he sold me the policy. He told me “we will cover whatever the diagnosis is from the technician.” Today I found out that is just something they tell you to get you to buy the policy. They are not going to cover it and even if they were, the entire experience has been misery. Do. Not. Give this company your business, you will regret it. I wish I had looked at BBB site before I had. Attempting to get a full refund, I’m not hopeful. This is not an honest business.

Go elsewhere for coverage

Please do not do business with this company. I placed two service calls. One for my refrigerator and one for my AC unit. My refrigerator is 7 years old and my AC is 6 years old. In both cases, service was denied because the techs diagnosed the issue as a "factory defect" which AFC does not cover.

I contacted the manufacturer of my refrigerator (Kitchen Aid) who informed me the parts in question were not factory defects. The Kitchen Aid rep was conferenced in to a call with an AFC CSR to validate there were no factory defects with the refrigerator. Despite this, AFC stood by the incorrect diagnosis and would not provide repair coverage.

Prior to the AC tech's arrival, I did my due diligence on the unit and even contacted the manufacturer (Trane) to ensure there were no factory defects with my unit to which there were none. Once again, the tech sent by AFC deemed the broken item a 'factory defect' and AFC would not provide repair coverage.

The only option given to me was to get a second opinion and even then, they would guarantee I would be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.

Needless to say, I have already submitted a cancellation and refund request to which I honestly don't expect them to honor that and keep my money.

Again, please do not do business with this company as they are a complete rip off.

AFC is very scammy- save your money

AFC was completely disappointing- save your money in an account instead of signing up with them. They seemed so trustworthy during the sign-up phase, but they are like a terrible HMO- trying to find any excuse not to pay your claims. I signed up for a three year plan with them and they told me not to worry- all appliances would be covered. I even told them I had old appliances and would it be a problem and they said no, as long as I got regular maintenance. So I've been paying for regular maintenance on my old furnace and central AC for years. Last year, the maintenance company tells me I might have a slow leak in my AC, and they have to do an expensive dye test and wait until the next year to be sure. AFC refuses to pay for the dye test, saying it is diagnostic. I am upset, but in the end, they say wait until the next year and then if anything is wrong, they will pay for it. This year, it is confirmed there is a slow leak in the refrigerator coil, and the recommendation is to replace the system since it is old, or at least the evaporator coil. AFC sends a representative to check it out (more money), & although there is a make, model, and serial number for the outside and inside units, apparently the serial number on the evaporator coil itself has worn off over the years. They then deny my claim out of hand, refusing to pay to replace the system or the evaporator coil, saying it is their policy. As if I could possibly know that a piece INSIDE my unit has a serial number gone. I escalated the complaint to management and they just kept saying that was their policy and I was out of luck. Even when I asked to cancel my policy and get the last year refunded, they said they would take out a repair done the first year and only give me back peanuts. If I had known this company was so scammy, I would have saved my money. They promise you peace of mind for your appliances, then find the most ridiculous ways out of helping you. Definitely DO NOT get a policy from this company.

This company is an absolute SCAM!!

This company is an absolute SCAM!!

I previously had another warranty company, but after they moved to offshore support, I decided to move to another company. I was promised the world - send them my old warranty and was assured that the contract I was purchasing was "apples to apples." Then 3 of my 4 service requests were denied (although they would have been covered by my previous company).

The also pressure you to pay for 3 years up front, cancellable at any time for "a pro forma refund" based on number of unused days. What they don't tell you is they also then charge you for any repairs made which were otherwise covered! So the money they paid out while I was insured NOW comes out of my pocket!!!

Do yourself a favor - RUN from this company at all costs!

You can hire your own service company

the ability to choose my own technician is very important to me. I know by doing so I get the caliber of person that I always have dealt with for the maintenance of my equipment.
They also are very prompt in paying me for the monies I spend to have the repair done.
I would recommend AFC to anyone looking for a Home Warranty Company!

AFC is a must have warranty company for home owners!!

AFC has always covered a good portion, if not all, of any work that I have ever had done. I have used AFC on all of my rentals and my own residence for several years. They have always come through. I would highly recommend AFC to any homeowner, whether owning one or several homes.

Easy claim process, but...

The process to submit the claim was easy, your reps called with status updates and to check in; I appreciated that. My only issue was with the tech that came out. Very nice guy, but one doesn't show up for a job in a t-shirt, sweat pants, and flip flops. I ended up troubleshooting the oven calibration for him.

Save your money

Save your money! Contract has max benefit to pay during policy AND when my blower fan motor went out, they would only pay $100 towards the $1200 replacement because the motor was 12 years old - so they do NOT pay to replace items but only value at time of breakdown. They don't contact you asking for additional information so you have to stay on top of the claim yourself! Pain to deal with. Would NOT recommend to anyone. Save your money in a Home Improvement part of your budget instead.

Very deceiving company

Very deceiving company! They will give you all the assurance in the world and peace of mind when signing up, then when things go breaking down and you needed their help, they will give you the lowest possible approval! It really defeats the purpose of having a home warranty! Not renewing again! And never recommending this company.

claim for heating system denied

I have 4 properties under warranty with AFC Home Club. Had a claim for a $7000 heating system replacement denied due to the unit being too old. Defeats the purpose of having a home warranty if the age of the unit plays a role in payout. After various discussion with the customer service team and AFC Home club legal department, a $500 payment was made. Buyer beware. Better to go with another agency that doesn't discriminate against the age of the unit but has a yearly claim limit instead.

Horrible experience, canceled and will never use again.

A prior technician in July completely botched an HVAC condensor repair. AFC told me to contact the technician to honor the repair's warranty. He refused to acknowledge the issue, told me to contact AFC, and hung up on me. After hanging up on me, he sent a text saying "how about I come to your house and [blank] your wife, [blank]."

AFC sent a different tech who diagnosed this issue, the previous technician had miswired the condensor motor to run backwards. AFC then called me to let me know they would not cover the repair since it already been paid for, and that I should sue the previous technician.

Absolutely cowardly, corrupt, and wrong on every possible level. I canceled my policy's renewal immediately and will never work with AFC ever again.

train sales people to just tell the truth - integrity pays in the long run

While selling, everything is "sure, we cover that" but when I challenged a difference in their contract that was more restrictive than the language on their website, the salesperson insisted that, it was just because there was not enough space on the website for all the words (it was one important word that costs hundreds of dollars!). I pointed out that it sounded a bit disingenuous and Preston's response was why don't I hang up if I don't trust him. I was just about to sign up for a $1550 deal on multiple properties and was glad that he showed his true stripes and I took his useful advice and hung up.

It will give you a false sense of…

It will give you a false sense of satisfaction, knowing it will cover your appliances if something goes wrong. In reality wont cover anything. I dont recommend this company and will cancel my plan soon.
