Can't Buy Me Love star Amanda Peterson's cause of death was overdose

Can’t Buy Me Love star Amanda Peterson’s cause of death was accidental acute morphine toxicity, the Weld County, Colorado, coroner’s office told People.

Peterson died July 3 and was found in her home on July 5.

Peterson had not acted since 1994, when she appeared in Windrunners, but none of her roles were as well-known as Cindy in 1987’s Can’t Buy Me Love, opposite Patrick Dempsey’s Ronald.

The 43-year-old had a long battle with the law, according to People. Most recently, Peterson was arrested for a DUI and possession of narcotic equipment in 2012.

After learning of her death, Dempsey paid tribute to Peterson on Twitter, writing, “In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young. Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda’s family.”
