I bought a mystery returns pallet for £120 at an auction - here's what I got for my money

An influencer splashed out £120 on a mystery returns pallet and was very surprised by what she received. 

Emily Canham, from London, decided to take a risk and purchase a box of electrical goods from auctioneers William George, containing items returned by customers - although it's not clear who the original retailers were. 

She has previously purchased similar boxes and hit the jackpot by finding unused Dyson products inside. 

Emily said she hoped to find a Nespresso machine and as she opened the package, she was thoroughly impressed.

The first thing Emily got out of the cardboard box was the ghd Creative Curl Wand, which retails for around £159

Emily said: 'I'm so nervous! In the past I've had some real wins. I've had a couple of Dyson Airwraps, some Dyson hairdryers.

'I actually got my Sage coffee machine in one of these. It's in storage right now, but before I used it every day and it's in perfect working order.'

The first thing Emily got out of the cardboard box was the ghd Creative Curl Wand, which retails for around £159. 

She said: 'It literally looks like it's never been taken out of the box. It looks unused. No way. It also says it's been tested.'

Emily said that she tested the product later on and it worked perfectly, meaning that with the first product alone, she had already got her money's worth from the pallet. 

Next, the content creator uncovered a ghd flight travel hairdryer, which she admitted looked a 'little damaged'.

It's being sold new online for £99.

Despite the product looking used, it still worked and Emily said travel hairdryers are always good to have.

The influencer then managed to bag herself a Lavazza milk frother, which helps transform your coffee at home into a barista-worthy beverage.

The product, which says it gives customers 'an Italian coffee shop at home', retails for around £60 and Emily said she tested it and it works. 

Emily then found a Babyliss hair curler, which retails for around £35, but she said she was not a huge fan of the appliance. She later plugged it in and tried it for herself and it worked. 

She said: 'This looks like quite a large one. Not my vibe, but although it looks like it's been opened there are no signs of actual use on the device or hair. I assume this is a return.'

The next item in her pallet was a Delonghi Coffee Grinder which retails for around £40 and she suspected that it has never been used. 

'I actually think my friend has this and it's really, really good. I wouldn't say this has been used, I would say it's brand new,' she added.

She then found a Babyliss Star Power Performance clipper, which retails for £90, and a Nespresso Vertuo Pop coffee machine. costing around £100, and both products worked. 

Emily got a Delonghi HSX portable heater, which retails for £80 in her mystery returns pallet 

Emily was then excited about her next product, which was Dreamland heated blanket which retails for £100. 

She managed to bag herself another bargain as she tested the product herself and confirmed that it worked.

She said: 'I've always wanted one of these, it's a bit ugly. My friend has one of these and I always use it when I'm at her house and it's the most comforting thing. I think these are a couple of hundred pounds.' 

Emily then found a Shark Air Purifier, which is being sold online for around £100 but the YouTuber was concerned that it would not work as she heard items rattling around in the box. She later tested the item out for herself and said that it worked.

'Oh it's quite sleek. It's been opened but all the instructions are in there, the remote is in there, so this might end up being something I genuinely use day to day,' she said.

The pallet had a second section to it which was full of other electrical goods, including a steamer and some irons.

She bagged herself the Tefal Express Essential iron, which retails for £130, the Tefal Ultimate, which retails for £100 and two Duux ThreeSixity 2 Ceramic Heater which cost £85 each.

Next, Emily pulled out a Tefal steamer, an item that costs around £114, and she had wanted it for a long while but never got around to purchasing it herself. 

She said: 'It looks in really clean condition, it doesn't look like it's been carelessly thrown in. I am going to use this so often, this is such a win.' 

Other items she found included a mini food processor from Cuisinart that retails for around £60, a Babyliss Advanced Power Styling tool, which is being sold online for £75, a Delonghi HSX portable heater, which retails for £80. 

All of the products Emily received in her lucky pallet were tested and they worked, meaning she got almost £1,450 worth of household electrical items for only £120. 

She ended the video and said: 'I think we did really well, I think the ghd ones were amazing finds, I think those heaters were amazing, we even got a freakin Nespresso.' 

Her YouTube video got 116,000 views and her subscribers were shocked at the bargains she got in her box.
