While it's not time for University of Alabama recruitment quite yet, the incoming freshman are getting ready - and showing off their pricey outfits on TikTok - as they attend the Bama Bound orientation program.

The program in June allows future students the chance to get to know each other before they start classes and go through sorority recruitment in the fall.

And while it's a casual event, this year the young women have stepped it up, ditching inexpensive oversized T-shirts and Nike Tempo shorts from previous years for luxe athleisure, like Lululemon miniskirts and Alo crop tops.

On social media, users were shocked to learn that high schoolers were spending hundreds on their athleisure and thousands on jewelry, while previous Alabama grads showed off how the style has changed over time.

TikTok creator Kasey Jane Dameo, who attended the University of Alabama in 2016, and is now based in Charleston, South Carolina, made a video about the major fashion differences.

Kasey showed off her own Bama Bound outfit from back in the day, which included aviator sunglasses, a big scrunchie, an oversized T-shirt, and white sneakers.

'It was cool then. A long time ago,' the content creator promised about her oversized ensemble.

Commenters were quick to agree that it was 'the vibe at the time,' as one woman said, 'No but like we were just there to live lifeeeee weren't worried about a cute outfit.'

Another 2016 Bama Bound attendee Samantha Macke shared a TikTok and wrote over a video of her outfit, 'The Bama Bound outfits are blowing my mind this is what we were all wearing in 2016,' showing a picture of herself in Nike sneakers with no-show socks, Nike Tempo shorts, an oversized T-shirt, and a baseball cap.

Samantha also shared a picture in the same video wearing black Nike Tempo shorts, which retail for about $30, black Chacos, and a tie-dyed oversized tank top over a sports bra.

One commenter wrote, 'No literally I'm so glad I went to school during this era.'

A millennial wrote, 'I think it's just they're still kids bc I'm old; graduated high school in 09, and before growing into adulthood I'd have outfits that were like Soffee shorts and a T or w a tank top.'

Other people complained about how expensive collegiate outfits are now, with one young woman saying, 'Pls I wish. My rush outfits have been almost 600 so far and all I have is two things.'

One person tweeted, 'I somehow ended up on Bama bound OOTD TikTok and I am so shook, like what do you mean you're wearing thousands of dollars in jewelry for ORIENTATION?'

Another agreed, 'RIGHT???? Just wait till rush.'

Another person wrote, 'Bama rush tok has now transformed to include Bama Bound tok they're posting their Bama Bound outfits that cost HUNDREDS of dollars for the full fit.'

They continued, 'tbh I'm glad I just finished school there bc it's turning (now more than ever) into a school where rich girls flood to in hoards each year for the chance of going viral for being rich and in a sorority it's very obvious.'

'The Greek life has always been a major pull but with the addition of girls going viral just for wearing super expensive outfits to rush a super expensive sorority it's becoming borderline unbearable,' they snarked.
