Mechanic warns about common car decorations that are actually 'very dangerous'

If you've ever been tempted to decorate your car then think again - a bit of bling could be the very thing that ends up hurting you.

Georgia-based Royalty Auto Service's TikTok account has issued an urgent warning to anyone wanting to spruce up the interior of their car - saying it could impact the safety measures in place.

In the clip with more than 175,00 views, a mechanic sat in a Hyundai, showing off a steering wheel that had tiny gems all around the wheel and on the logo.

'We see this way too much!! Get these out of your cars now! Very dangerous,' the overlaid text reads.

In the video, he continues adamantly, 'That's unsafe y'all,' pointing at the sparking bling.

He urged drivers not to bedazzle or change their steering wheel - as it could come back to hit you in the face, literally.

'Do not put it on anything with an airbag,' he urged, pointing at the bejeweled logo in the center of the steering wheel.

'If this airbag goes off, that's coming off at you.'

The owner of the car had also covered the air-conditioning vents with tiny gems.

'If it gets super hot you're not getting much of anything through there,' he pointed out.

The mechanic added if you purchased a steering wheel cover that moved when you turned the wheel, it was an immediate red flag.

'Take the steering wheel cover off,' he urged.

Viewers were quick to comment on the video, with many sharing their own opinions about bling in a car.

' Or… or… don't put them in your car because they're downright TACKY,' one raged.

'The bedazzled rings that go around the push start can cause the car to not want to start as well,' another said.

'Wow, never thought of that. Thanks for the info!' one wrote.

Someone else shared a cautionary tale of bedazzling the steering wheel.

'No bedazzle (sic) anywhere in the car. Nephew was in a wreck. Air bag hit [his] arm,' one commenter said.

'A year [later] he still has a Honda symbol on his arm where it hit [his] arm. Can't imagine if there had been stuff on it.'

Royalty Auto Service is not the first to share car advice online.

Previously David Long, who is known online as the Car Wizard, uploaded a video to his YouTube channel detailing the six vehicles that he thought prospective buyers shouldn't consider purchasing.

He listed the 2004 to 2010 Ford F150 or 'Expedition F250, cars that have the General Motors 3.6 liter V6 after use or a 3.1 or the 3.4 V6, any European car with over 150,000 miles, or a truck or SUV that has AFM or MDA.
