Mum's simple hack to remove stains from wooden furniture using a common pantry item

A mum has shared her ultimate hack to get stubborn stains out of wooden furniture - and all you need is an iron and a household essential.

The American mum was devastated when her daughter left a warm dish on her wooden storage unit, leaving a stark white stain.

The discolouration was caused by condensation trapped underneath the varnish which needed to get out.

Leaving hot dishes like pots from the stove or pizza boxes on wooden furniture can cause damage to the wood's protective finish.

'To get it off I applied half a teaspoon of olive oil on the spot and rubbed it in with a cloth,' she revealed.

'Then I put a tea towel over the area and patiently went back and forth with a hot iron for about ten minutes, checking every 30 seconds or so.'

She was shocked when her hack worked and unveiled a sparkling new tabletop.

'Voila! It slowly came off!' she exclaimed.

Thousands were shocked by the mum's simple hack.

'This is fantastic!' a dad said. 'My 21-year-old son put a hot pan of mac and cheese on an antique wooden kitchen table I had just bought from an estate sale a week prior. I told him it was no big deal, smiled, and then cried when I went to bed that night.'

Another sadi: 'You can also use furniture polish! I discovered this when I put a warm pan on my kitchen table. You just rub it in and it goes away.'

Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou previously revealed her go-to kitchen hack for spotless cutlery - and all you need is an unlikely household essential.

Ada is also irked by her stainless steel cutlery turning brown in the dishwasher like many Aussies.

'You know when you get stuff out of the dishwasher and it's rusty and you can't get it off?' she asked in a video before pointing at one of her knives with brown stains on it.

She recently discovered a new hack using aluminium foil.

'You get some alfoil, you scrunch it up, and rub the ball onto the stain,' she advised, doing the same with her knife.

Ada was shocked when the mark effortlessly rubbed off and she was left with a sparkling piece of cutlery

'This is amazing, I'm doing the whole kitchen!' Ada raved.

All you have to do is scrunch your alfoil up into a ball and rub it on your stainless steel cutlery

According to Australia's property maintenance company Fantastic Services, foil doesn't have any cleaning properties but the aluminium works well on shining utensils and even oven racks.

A few others revealed other surprising uses for the kitchen essential.

'I use alfoil to sharpen my scissors and the garden secateurs!' one shared.

'That's also how I clean the rims on my car before I polish them,' another said.

'Also great for cleaning the bottom of your saucepans,' a woman added.

'Steel wool does the same thing,' another wrote.
