This Morning star Isla Traquair reveals she has been targeted by Jay Slater trolls for flying over to Tenerife to cover case for ITV show

This Morning star Isla Traquair revealed she has been targeted by Jay Slater trolls for flying to Tenerife to cover the case for the ITV show.

Television presenter Isla, 44, has recently travelled to the popular holiday island where 19-year-old Jay was last seen on June 17.

She retraced his last known steps for This Morning coverage on the situation, however, since then she has faced comments from people on social media.

In a TikTok video, Isla said: 'I don't normally respond to trolls and comments online and I personally don't really care about some of the things that have been said about me.

'But what I would like to do is clarify some facts so I'm not having to respond to all the different comments. But first of all just to address the nonsense and attention that's been brought on me

She added: I'm a journalist, I have been a journalist since I was 16 years old.

'I'm vastly experienced. I've won awards for what I do. And what do journalists do? We go to the location of a story and we report on them.

'I find it rather hilarious that has become the focus of a story.

'The reason for me actually going out there was I had been asked to speak about it on this morning and I did all the enquiries that I could while being based in London.'

She revealed how Jay's mother, Debbie Duncan, had asked to speak with Isla and it resulted in the presenter going to Tenerife.

In the video posted on social media, she also clarified some queries about the case, including comments about Jay and his family.

The presenter later added: 'Thank you to all those lovely people who know who I am, who know my job, who know my integrity for writing nice things and I genuinely really don't care about the stupid comments because they're written by people who have absolutely no clue what they're talking about.

'And they can go and just maybe spend their time doing something more useful.'

Jay was last seen at around 8am on June 17 by the owner of an Airbnb he had gone back to with two men after a rave.

He had missed a bus back to his accommodation and was seen setting off on foot for what would have been an 11-hour walk.

Friend Lucy Law said Jay had called her shortly after he was last seen to say he was thirsty and had no water and just one per cent battery on his phone.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up by his family to 'get Jay Slater home' and has received more than £47,000 in donations.
