Met Police officer who has guarded senior royals faces criminal investigation over allegations of domestic and sexual abuse made by his estranged wife

  •  Woman claims policeman forced her into rough sex and abused her for 10 years
  •  She also claims he threatened her eldest child from a previous marriage
  •  He has been placed on restricted duties while police investigate the claims

A police officer who has guarded senior royals is facing a criminal investigation over allegations of domestic and sexual abuse made by his estranged wife.

She has told officers he forced her into rough sex, assaulted her and psychologically abused her throughout their ten-year marriage.

The Mail on Sunday understands that the policeman, who is due to be questioned, was suspended from duties earlier this year after the woman made her complaint.

But last night she said she was furious to discover he had recently returned to work.

She claimed the abuse was 'constant' in their relationship as he rose through the ranks to guard members of the Royal Family, adding: 'This man is a danger to women.'

She said he pressured her into rough sex but she felt unable to refuse for fear of upsetting him.

'He's a big drinker, so he would get to a certain point and then he would start on me,' she said.

She described how after an incident during a night out, he attacked her in the shower.

'He grabbed me by the throat and screamed 'don't you ever embarrass me again' and slapped me around the face so hard I saw lights,' she said.

He also controlled what she wore and where she went, she added. 'I had to run everything through him and he had to take me everywhere and pick me up,' she said.

The mother also claimed he was threatening to her sons from a previous relationship, in particular her eldest child.

'He used to threaten to knock him out,' she added.

The couple separated in 2020 and she first reported her husband to the police for domestic abuse in 2021 but her complaint was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Last September, she reported him again for stalking her and officers encouraged her to make new claims of sexual assault and battery.

Her husband was suspended from duty but returned to work in June, prompting her to complain to police again.

The Metropolitan Police said: 'In May, we were notified by another force that they had received an allegation relating to an officer attached to the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command.

'An investigation is being carried out by Nottinghamshire Police. The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards is aware.

'The officer has been placed on restricted duties.'
