'Demons DEMOLISHED!': Piers Morgan leads fans hailing Bukayo Saka's 'moment of redemption' as the England star scores in penalty shootout win after miss in Euros final three years ago

Piers Morgan believes Bukayo Saka 'demolished his demons' after scoring in England's penalty shootout win over Switzerland in their Euro 2024 quarter-final.

Three years ago, Saka stepped up to take England's fifth penalty in the Euros final against Italy and had his effort saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma as the Azzurri lifted the trophy at Wembley.

He endured a torrent of racist abuse following his miss, but had the bravery to step up again on Saturday night after England's clash with Switzerland finished 1-1 over 120 minutes.

Saka took England's third penalty and slotted his spot-kick into the bottom corner, bringing a huge smile to his face.

Morgan was quick to react to the moment, as he posted on X: 'BUKAYO!!!! Demons demolished'.

Another fan was in agreement with Morgan's assessment, adding: 'A moment of redemption. A moment of courage. A moment of ecstasy.

'Bukayo Saka is HIM.'

It was clear to see how delighted Saka was after being under immense pressure, and one supporter admitted the moment was 'amazing for him'.

Saka's confident penalty ensured England kept their momentum after Manuel Akanji's earlier miss, and Gareth Southgate's men eventually prevailed 5-3 on penalties after converting all five of their attempts.

The Arsenal forward was also excellent in regular time as he came to England's rescue after they fell behind to a close-range Breel Embolo strike.

The Three Lions looked to be heading out, but Saka cut inside to curl home a fantastic effort into the bottom corner and bring his side level as the clock ticked down.

Playing in an unfamiliar right wing-back role for most of the match, Saka was a constant threat and was deservedly awarded player of the match.

He proudly posed with his trophy after the game following a performance and penalty to be proud of.
