The Love Island contestants discovered the results of the UK election after show rules were broken.

Despite ITV bosses 'main rule' being that bombshells can't speak about current affairs, the outside information was leaked.

But despite being banned from learning the results of the General Election, the cast will reportedly get to join the rest of the nation tuning into England's Euro 2024 final.

A source told The Sun: 'The islanders do actually know the result of the election - the main rule when bombshells go in is that they're not allowed to tell the cast any information about the outside world, but the result of the election has leaked into the villa so they know.

'Huge news like that does tend to get given away by bombshells.'

Show bosses encouraged Islanders to vote and gave them time away from filming to partake in the proxy vote where, due to being overseas, or they could request somebody to vote on their behalf on July 4.

The decision to keep this year's election results a secret may come as a surprise, after show boss Mike Spencer insisting the series strives to education viewers on serious matters around dating and sex.
