About us

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization working to eliminate health inequity and improve lives by educating and empowering teens — encouraging them to become change-agents within their families, schools, and neighborhoods.   Believing that limited access to health education can lead to a lifetime of social, emotional, and physical challenges, HealthCorps strives to strengthen teens with innovative approaches to health and wellness, providing today’s youth with the tools to become more physically and mentally resilient through educational programming, leadership experience and service learning.

What a special evening with Dr. Amen and his foundation! Incredibly thankful for their support and important work in mental health!

We want to highlight a special night we had in May, where we raised funds and awareness to support the mental health crisis facing our youth. We partnered with Dr. Oz and his amazing organization, @healthcorps. We appreciate all of you for your support, and every day we will continue to make a difference and help improve the quality of life for children facing mental health challenges. 📸: @katielevinephoto #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthcare #endthestigma #breakthestigma

To wrap up the school year and Mental health awareness month students at Pivot Sisu youth services ASTEC High School NW Classen kIPP OKC Made positive affirmation messages to themselves and many community members to continue awareness for mental health. This month we tackled great conversations around what is mental health and how to break the stigma in minority communities. I am so proud of All the students for making a conscious effort to make real change inside of their community. This month students learned what it truly means to pour inside their own cup. May we continue to bring awareness to many who are fighting silently. Together we truly can make a difference.

Our Philadelphia health fair, "World of Wellness," connected Fels High School students with 17 local organizations for healthy interactive activities, including food demonstrations, CPR demonstrations, raffles, and more! Special thanks to our manager Marylissa, Fels High School, Selfie Shots Booth for our incredible photo booth pics, and the Philly organizations that made this event possible.

MSW | LSW | Senior Manager at HealthCorps

I had such a great time last week visiting HealthCorps regional teams in Pennsylvania and Delaware! I was able to meet with two of our Regional Program Managers, Sarah Cave and Marylissa Barbosa-Fish who are cultivating relationships, managing teams, and facilitating growth within their regions. I had a chance to meet most of their near-peer, college mentors who are in the schools everyday providing health and wellness programming for middle and high school students. The team knows me well enough at this point so of course our meet ups took place at a coffee shop in Delaware and a pizza spot in Pittsburgh! I am continually impressed by the passion mentors exhibit for the work they do in schools across the country. I am even more impressed by the talent and professionalism I encounter each time I meet a mentor. If they are our future, and they are teaching and empowering the next generation, I am excited to see the impact they will have on the world.

HealthCorps mentor Marc Byles led a fantastic activity that linked mental health to the food we eat at the popular 24th Annual ASTEC Art and Chocolate Festival earlier this month. Parents, students, and educators even had the chance to make their own chocolate energy bites. We're proud to bring these healthy tips and tasty treats to Oklahoma City students and families! A big thank you to Continental Resources for supporting our work in the region and supporting our Oklahoma communities.
