The president of the National Education Association has been widely mocked for an 'totally unhinged' speech that resembled a hilarious scene from The Office.

Becky Pringle gave an impassioned monologue on Thursday in Philadelphia about the future of education, calling for widespread changes to make the system more equal.

But viewers were distracted by her outlandish gestures and emphasis.

Pringle banged her fists on the podium and waved them in the air as she repeatedly shouted that the NEA has to win 'all the things' to help 'every student'.

Clips of the speech went viral with many comparing it to a scene in the hit sitcom The Office where Dwight Schrute appears at a paper salesmen convention and delivers a wild address based on Italian dictator Benito Mussolini's old speeches.

Pringle was addressing 7,000 people at the NEA's Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly in Philadelphia.

She called for a widespread change in education to create a 'racially and socially just and equitable system'.

'We worked hard to rid ourselves of a tyrannical, deceitful, and corrupt White House, but the reality is that the seeds that were sown during that horrible season continue to germinate,' she said.

She hyped up the crowd, waving her hands in the air and repeating key phrases.

'We are the ones who help shape the heart of this nation's hope and dreams. We are the ones who hold steadfast to the belief in the plausibility of the possible', she said.

'We are the heirs of all who did this work before us. We must keep going. NEA Delegates, we can do this work. We must do this work.'

Her speech became more intense and energetic as she went on, saying: 'Our students are depending on us to win all the things. All the things! All the things! All the things.'

On X, viewers cut clips of her speech together with clips of Dwight delivering his on the show.

School choice advocate Corey DeAngelis shared the clips online and called her speech 'off-the-rails' to Fox Digital

He said: 'Becky Pringle pulled a Dwight Schrute. She is off-the-rails and desperate to maintain control over the minds of other people's children.'

Some joked that Pringle must have hired Schrute as her 'speech coach'.

In his speech in The Office, Jim tricks him into delivering a compilation of quotes from Mussolini, slightly edited to be about paper sales.

Banging his fists on the podium, Schrute tells the crowd: 'Blood alone moves the wheels of history! It has been a lifetime struggle. A never-ending fight. I say to you, and you will understand that it is a privilege to fight!

'We are warriors… Rise and be worthy of this historical hour! No revolution is worth anything unless it can defend itself… We must never acquiesce, for it is together, together that we prevail.'
