Welcome To Plathville star Kim Plath, 51, files for divorce from husband Barry after 27 years of marriage and 10 kids... 2 years after they separated

Kim and Barry Plath of the TLC series Welcome To Plathville are headed toward divorce.

It comes nearly two years after the couple announced their separation.

According to ET, the 51-year-old matriarch filed divorce documents on June 26 in Georgia, listing the date of separation as December 23, 2021.

The exes wed on July 12, 1997 and share 10 children.

Kim is seeking primary custody of their three underage children — Amber, 15, Cassia, 13, and Mercy, 11.

In legal paperwork, Kim expressed she feels she is a 'fit and proper parent' and is also seeking child support.

According to documents, Kim is granted 'equitable division' of marital assets and other debts.

The reality television stars told ET in June 2022: 'While this was not an easy decision, we know it’s the best choice for both of us.'

They added, 'We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children.'

Nearly eight months ago, the Plaths' son Ethan announced they were separating after five years of marriage.

The Plath family has seen its share of heartbreak and tragedy — Kim lost their 17-month-old son Joshua in a car accident in 2008 when she ran him over on the family farm in Georgia.

She was pregnant with their eighth child at the time.  

Plath had been using her car to move fruit trees on their property, and did not see the baby.

'I had just seen him and I thought it was okay,' she recalled in an episode that aired in 2019.

On a now-deleted family website, according to People, Kim Plath wrote that she was tortured by her baby son's death.

'I woke up every morning and functioned. But just barely. I wanted to die,' she wrote.

Welcome to Plathville season six will premiere on Tuesday, July 16 on TLC.
