Martha Stewart clapped back at the 'harsh judgment' she received after posting photos of her newly decorated living room inside her Maine home on Wednesday. 

The TV personality, 82 - who recently looked radiant while celebrating Sports Illustrated Swimsuit's 60th anniversary - revealed that she was 'surprised' over the negative comments left on her previous post.

Alongside a photo of the room, Stewart penned on her personal Instagram page, 'I rarely read all the comments that come in after I post but because I was so happy at the transformation of my Maine living room.

'I did go through many of the comments and was surprised at the harsh judgment so many displayed!!!' 

She added, 'I and my Maine helpers spent three hours moving out the old furniture and putting in the new #we were pleased that the pieces actually fit the room and were proportionate to the large size of the space.'

Martha further expressed it, 'was not a "decorator's" professional installation It was an attempt to change quickly and efficiently Making a house a home, or a room a beautiful livable space takes a lot more than three hours.'

'Of course there will be color, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects Stay tuned!!!!' 

The star concluded with, 'And by the way the birds are chromo lithographs by Carroll Tyson known as the "6Audubon of Maine" -so beautiful!' 

The living room space was decorated with a large, cream-colored rug as well as off-white, leather chairs and a couch in the middle of the room. 

A black bench with cream cushions and an ornate coffee table was placed near the wooden-paneled fireplace. 

Black-framed pictures lined the wall above the fireplace, while various windows allowed natural light to stream inside. 

Her previous post included additional photos of the living room, as well as a second and third seating area inside the spacious home.

Along with cream and black color scheme, wooden tables, chairs and other furniture pieces were included inside the room - offering a rustic feel to the space.

'Big day rearranging the furniture in the three main living rooms at Skylands,' Stewart wrote to her 2 million followers. 

'We switched the living room from grey blue upholstery to a creamy pale buttery yellow ( all the yellow came from lily pond lane which I sold two years ago!).' 

The star added, 'the library is much more comfortable now and the faux Bois table is now the card table I love the rustic yet elegant charm of this lovely 1925 house.' 

While some fans sent compliments over the interior design of the large space, other social media users shared opposing opinions. 

'Yuck. It looks like a Marriott suite living room in 1987,' one wrote, while another added, 'Looks old and stuffy.' 

'Hate to say it… but I will. It doesn't look like there is 1 comfortable chair…. The colors are so bland,' one penned.

'Doesn't look like a home, it looks like a very masculine men’s club lobby. I guess if you're happy with it, that's all that matters.' 

Another Instagram user shared, 'Not your best work. It feels empty like no soul empty.'

However, others shared positive messages, with a fan sharing, 'It looks so good! Just perfect!' 

'Haters gonna hate, I love this revamp Skylands 2.0 Edsel Ford would be proud,' another typed out. 

'can't wait for @seenbysharkey to full the room with flowers, well done!!! I love that you recycled from one iconic home to another.'

She simply uploaded a photo that showed the front of her Maine abode and an American flag hanging over the porch. 

The author typed, 'Have a safe and happy July 4th holiday. May we all celebrate America, its beautiful flag, and our country's freedom.'
