Emma Roberts says her aunt Julia Roberts' films are her 'comfort' watches... and reveals whether they would ever work together

Emma Roberts shared that her aunt Julia Roberts' movies are her 'comfort' watches when she is 'by myself' - and even named the specific films she relies on.

The 33-year-old actress is the daughter of Julia's brother Eric Roberts, who is himself an actor known for films like The Expendables.

She has now embarked on a successful acting career of her own, starring in such projects as the Ryan Murphy series American Horror Story and Scream Queens.

Now Emma, who bears a striking resemblance to her world-famous aunt, revealed that she is 'still' pitched roles that would see her play opposite Julia.

She candidly divulged whether she would consider the prospect of working with Julia, in a new interview with Variety.

'I would love to find the perfect project for me and my aunt, and I know that there will be something. But it’s never been the right thing,' said Emma.

'She’s the best, and I want to do something with her. We send each other books and talk about stuff but it hasn’t been right,' she remarked. 

'I watch her movies when I’m on location and I’m by myself. I have movies of hers downloaded on my computer that I watch for comfort. My Best Friend's Wedding and America's Sweethearts are my safe movies.'

My Best Friend's Wedding was a classic 1997 romantic comedy starring Julia in a love triangle with Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulroney.

America's Sweethearts is another romantic comedy, this time from 2001, with Julia as the harried personal assistant to a film star played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The movie helped contribute to Julia's much-trumpeted image as 'America's Sweetheart,' which has trailed her ever since. 

Emma's latest remarks come after she disclosed she does not 'want to date actors anymore' - after her experience with men who 'border on method actors.'

She is most recently known to have been with Cody John, an actor who has been on such series as NCIS, The Rookie and Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

The Madame Web actress previously had relationships with Alex Pettyfer, Garrett Hedlund and her American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters.

Now, however, the niece of Julia Roberts has shared that she would prefer to date someone outside the profession that launched her family to fame.

Although she did not specify if she and Cody are still together, she told Flaunt her current boyfriend - whom she did not name - has a job related to showbiz.

'One day the veil was lifted and I didn’t want to date actors anymore. It’s hard, I think, for two actors to be together,' she explained.

'I’m trying to think if I’ve seen it done successfully,' said Emma, whose actor father Eric Roberts has been married for over 30 years to actress Eliza Garrett.

'Also, the actors I’ve been with border on method actors, and that is something that I think is extremely difficult to be in a relationship with - at least for me, especially the characters that they were playing,' she added.

Cody and Emma went Instagram official in August 2022 and were seen as recently as this pay passionately kissing in New York City.

Emma shares her three-year-old son Rhodes with Garrett Hedlund, whom she dated for nearly three years until news of their split went public in January 2022.

Just after their split went public, Garrett was reportedly arrested for misdemeanor public intoxication in Tennessee, only to be released on $2,100 bond. 

The arrest came while Garrett was still serving out his three years' probation for a previous DUI charge from January 2020, which he was slapped with after he allegedly crashed into a car containing a woman and her three children.

Garrett and Emma were first linked in April 2019 shortly after her split from her on-off fiancé and American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters.

Amid Emma and Evan's string of breakups and reunions, there came a particularly nasty quarrel in a Montreal hotel in 2013 that culminated in her getting arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and him declining to press charges.

Someone reported a dustup in their room to the police, and when officers arrived Evan allegedly had a bloody nose and a bite mark, TMZ reported.

Emma's representative gave a statement on the 'unfortunate incident and misunderstanding,' saying: 'Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it,' via Entertainment Tonight.

Evan reached new heights of fame last year on a smash hit Netflix series starring him as the notorious serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer.
