Real Housewives of New York star Jenna Lyons, 56, lifts the lid on her VERY unique rituals to get ready for a night out

Real Housewives of New York star Jenna Lyons has some very interesting pre going-out rituals - and revealed how incorporating one beauty treatment into her routine has made her a 'much nicer person.'
The star, 56, is the former executive creative director and president of J.Crew, a position that she held from 2010 to 2017.
In a recent interview with InStyle, Lyons shared how she prepares for a night out, detailing how she puts on her makeup and chooses an outfit for the occasion.
But the first thing that Lyons does before a night out on the town is to get her nails done at home.
'I don't know, there's something about the ceremony [of it] because I never had time to do that in my previous life,' she told the outlet.

She also likes an at-home massage, something that she's been doing regularly and has made her a 'much nicer person.'
Once her at-home treatments are all done, Lyons divulged that she just has to turn down the lights before digging into some skincare.
'There are just some things I don't necessarily need to acknowledge that are happening,' she told the outlet.
'And I like to live in my own vision of what is happening. So I turn the lights down.'
After all of her skincare and makeup products are applied, she's then tasked with what seems like the impossible: choosing an outfit.
Even though she was at the helm of J.Crew and is somewhat of a fashion icon these days, she still struggles with what to wear just like the rest of us.
'I'm the worst person to talk about picking an outfit,' Lyons admitted to InStyle.
She revealed that she even wrestled with what to wear to the Real Housewives of New York season 14 reunion, not deciding on her ensemble until just hours before, on the morning of filming.

Sometimes, she turns to her partner, photographer to the stars Cass Bird, for ideas.
Although it's not known exactly when she started dating Bird, she confirmed that the two were in a relationship during the season 14 reunion.
She made the relationship Instagram-official last July.
'If I'm going out, I usually start with my partner asking, "What do you want me to wear?" Because sometimes, she has an idea, like, "I want this tonight, or I want this,"' the Love Seen founder told the outlet, explaining that she 'works around it.'
She said that oftentimes, she'll put on an outfit that is the opposite of what the night entails - so, if she's going to be attending a fancier event, she'll dress down, and vice versa.
And, when it comes to accessories, don't expect her to carry a bag.
'I'm anti-bag. I never carry a bag,' she shared.
The only thing that comes with her is her credit card, house key and some mints, which she slides right into her pocket.

Lyons made her debut on the show last year as part of a brand-new cast for the series' reboot.
Her fellow co-stars include Sai de Silva, Erin Lichy, Ubah Hassan, Brynn Whitfield and Jessel Taank.
This upcoming season, they will also be joined by new cast member, designer Rebecca Minkoff, who will be a 'friend of.'
