Ex-Apple employee reveals what your cell phone carrier says about your personality

Your cellphone carrier says a lot about who you are, an ex-Apple employee has claimed.

Tyler Morgan, who worked in sales, detailed how choosing one of the five major companies is more about your personality, rather than the best coverage or cheapest plan.

These traits included your favorite actor, whether you rely financially on your parents, when you left home and whether you're at an all-time low in your life.

Morgan has gained a huge social media following by sharing insights into his time at Apple and giving advice to customers.

1. Verizon

If you're on a Verizon plan, Morgan warned in the TikTok video that this is a sign that you're a 'trust fund.'

'We understand your parents are doing well, we get it,' he said, adding: 'Good luck paying that on your own when they kick your *ss out.'

One person responded to the video, telling Morgan that his observation of Verizon is 'spot on.'

'I have Verizon and it ain't easy paying it now,' they wrote.

Verizon is primarily used by trust fund babies whose parents are still footing the bill, Morgan said.

Others questioned Morgan's judgment, asking: 'What's wrong with Verizon?' and another stated: 'Verizon is not expensive. I don't know what plan y'all are on.'

Verizon's most expensive plan is Unlimited Ultimate which gives customers 5G Wideband service and 60 gigabytes of premium mobile hotspot data per month for $90.

2. AT&T

Morgan touted that AT&T users are 'like the Android friend in your friend group of iPhone users.

'For whatever reason, you're just not wanting to pay that extra $10 a month to be on Verizon,' he said.

He cited AT&T's popularity on its bundling options that allows customers to get access to DIRECTV, internet and an unlimited phone plan for $150 to $65 a month.

However, AT&T stands for 'Always Troubled and Tired' Morgan said, clarifying that the company's maintenance trucks are the most common he sees 'cause there's always something going wrong.'

AT&T has suffered two prolonged nationwide outages this year leaving tens of thousands of customers without data or cell service.

After the second outage earlier this month, users appeared to become disenchanted with the company, with one person writing on X: 'Come on AT&T, let's get it together here. These service issues are getting old.'

3. T-Mobile

T-Mobile is the best option, according to Morgan who said most people stay with the company because their family has had a plan since the early 2000s.

T-Mobile is the best option, according to Morgan who said most people stay with the company because their family has had a plan since the early 2000s.

T-Mobile is the type of carrier you were born into or joined because you moved out at a young age, according to Morgan.

'Did you leave home abruptly at 16 like me? Probably have T-Mobile,' he said, adding: 'Most likely you've been with them, or someone in your family has been with them since the Sidekick was a thing.'

The T-Mobile Sidekick debuted in 2002, featuring a four-bit monochrome display, and was carried by socialites Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian as the popular BlackBerry alternative.

T-Mobile offers an inexpensive alternative to other phone plans with its 'Essentials Saver' option of $50 a month for unlimited talk and text and 50 gigabytes of data, making this one of Morgan's top choices.

4. Mint Mobile

People who choose Mint Mobile over other phone carriers 'just like Ryan Reynolds,' Morgan said, even though T-Mobile officially bought the company last month for $1.3 billion.

Reynolds bought a 25 percent stake in Mint Mobile in 2019 and was known for boosting the company in sponsored commercials.

The company offers a $15 per month deal for both new and existing customers, and Morgan showed his preference, saying: 'Mint Mobile, if you'd like to collab, I like you the best.'

However, given T-Mobile's recent acquisition of the platform, it 'means technically, I like T-Mobile the best. Which is fine with me,' Morgan said.

5. Spectrum

Spectrum is a bottom-tier phone company, according to Morgan who warned users against setting up a contract for an unlimited plus plan for $25 a month.

'This is a level of low you don't need to be,' Morgan said. 'You probably got it for a bundle or something, right?'

He acknowledged that the company 'usually' has good WiFi, but the pros end there, although he did not specify all the negative reasons he dislikes the company.

'Stop, just leave. You'd be better off using pre-paid,' Morgan said.

He quantified his explanations by saying he's been a customer of all five carriers at one point or another, but 'Spectrum… that was a dark time in my life,' he said.
