Last week, we celebrated the life and legacy of Ilon Specht, the radical creative genius behind L’Oréal Paris’ iconic tagline, "Because I'm Worth It." This groundbreaking idea, crafted in 1973 when Ilon was a young copywriter at McCann New York, not only revolutionized advertising in the beauty category but also became a powerful feminist statement. We paid tribute to Ilon by sharing a moving documentary by two-time Academy Award® winner Ben Proudfoot, “The Final Copy of Ilon Specht” and heard more of Ilon’s story from those who knew her best, including her children, Alison Case and Brady Case, as well as her family, friends and former colleagues. Thank you to The Paley Center for Media and She Runs It for participating in this very special event, and to Ilon’s family and everyone who joined us, took part in the discussion, and helped make this such a memorable night.

This body of work, dubbed "Inclusive by Design," was awarded a Gold Lion in Creative Strategy and a Bronze Lion in Creative Effectiveness. This week we kicked off the first session of McCann New York’s and VCU Brandcenter’s partnership program, “Think Like a CMO,” a professional development workshop that aims to help the talented rising leaders of McCann gain a broader view into business fundamentals to better understand clients’ needs — all within the office. Some of our McCanners were VCU alums themselves! To truly deep dive into a business leader’s perspective, we invited John Harrobin, leader of Frontier Internet’s Consumer business, for a fireside chat with our CEO Amber Guild. We’re thrilled that this curriculum was made a reality for our team with VCU Brandcenter. Thank you Vann Graves, Executive Director at VCU Brandcenter and Marc Johnson, lecturer and member of the VCU Brandcenter Director’s Council for guiding such an interactive conversation and workshop. Last night, we made history at the Effie Awards! We are proud to be recognized as the first and only agency to win an effectiveness award in AI for the “Picture a Win” campaign for the New York Lottery. Huge congratulations to the team. We took home another 10 Effie's for work across categories with Microsoft, State Street Global Advisors, Prudential, Lysol, and Chick-fil-A.
