Yo, my name is Alton Mason.

And I'm gonna be walking you

through my daily beauty routine.

Today, I'm gonna be using the Alo enzyme cleanser.

My face usually gets really dry so I need this to hydrate,

especially after the plane.

I'm gonna do two of these.

You know, growing up,

my skin care routine used to just be aloe vera

and African Black Soap.

But what I found out is I was missing so many steps

and it really was just drying me out.

I wasn't getting the proper moisturization I needed,

and I didn't know that serums and vitamin C existed.

But now I know what was missing.

So I'm gonna pat my face dry, but not too dry.

Now steam is actually a major key in revitalizing dry skin.

So now that my pores are open,

we're gonna move on to the clay mask.

Clay mask is going to dive in

and get all the impurities that are underneath the skin.

And it's gonna pull it all out.

Now I like to do masks about like, two times a week.

These masks also help with evening out your skin tone

and targeting ingrown hairs, which I suffer from.

I'm gonna leave this on for five minutes.

But my mom actually used to model,

and some advice she gave me was to be unique.

And I didn't really know what she meant by that at first,

until I actually got in the industry

and I saw that many people were choosing to be the same.

I would get overlooked

because I looked just like that guy or that person.

So I feel like it started working for me

when I listened to my mon.

And I wanna shout out to Precious Lee for being one of one,

Anok Yai, Adut, Bella, all these girls, Paloma,

who are really just setting the standard

of living in their truth and being who they want to be.

I remember I would walk into castings

with like, a black shirt, black jeans, never worked.

It never worked.

And then I walked into a casting one time

with like, my Rasta tank, I had this fur coat on

and some leather pants, and these big boots,

and the casting director was like, who is this?

I'm obsessed with this clay mask. I'm having too much fun.

So I'm gonna be using this hydrating serum.

It's from this brand called Alo.

Now Alo is one of my workout homes.

I work out at least three times a week.

You wanna get over jet lag,

go work out before you go to sleep.

I'm going to layer it with a Vitamin C serum.

And we're gonna be using this one right here.

So now I'm gonna face roll to get all this puffiness out.

You know, when you're moving and traveling so much,

and you are in all these different environments,

having a routine is so grounding.

It's so centering, because your brain and your cerebral

is like, realigning with where you are.

No matter the time zone, no matter the place.

[bright music]

I'm gonna be using Alo's moisturizer.

I just filmed a movie in Australia with Baz Luhrmann.

It's called Elvis.

If you haven't seen it yet, go check it out.

In the movie, I play Little Richard.

I had to wear a lot of caked on makeup,

because during that time, that's what they did.

And I wore a wig that was permed and it was a comb over.

It was so flat.

What an honor to be paying tribute to a guy

who was before his time in beauty, fashion, music,

rock and roll.

It's truly surreal to me.

I think one of the craziest press moments

had to be arriving in Canada for the film premiere.

You know, I haven't seen the movie till that premiere day.

I couldn't imagine it getting bigger than that. [laughs]

I walk into the theater and it's chandeliers,

there's girls with diamonds and gowns,

and everyone's wearing tuxedos,

and I'm just looking around like, wow.

We're here to watch the movie.

It's like my mom, Priscilla, Tom Hanks, Baz, Austin.

It was a dream.

One thing that I remember so clearly

is when my scene came on, I was in my chair,

and I was like, sinking into my chair like this.

Because when you do something for the first time,

you wanna do it well.

You wanna make people proud.

Playing Little Richard,

I wanted to make his family proud

and bring joy to his legacy.

So seeing it for the first time was crazy.

But I remember after my scene came on, everyone applauded,

and it was the first applause in the theater.

And it shook me that I just started crying. [laughs]

I'm such a baby.

I just started crying

and Tom was like, you got the first applause.

It was crazy.

I'm like, getting chills thinking about it now.

The next thing we're gonna use is our SPF.

The sun is pretty powerful, isn't it?

So don't think that you just invincible

and you can be outside with no sunscreen on, child.

I was that guy that thought that.

My mom would tell me, put on sunscreen,

we're in Arizona, it's hot.

I was like, mom, I'm black. I don't need that.

So I would walk outside every day with no sunscreen on.

And you know what?

Now I have all these dark marks, discoloration, sun spots.

I should have listened, but it's never too late.

The lip mask I'm using is Laneige.

You now, I always thought about tweezing my brows,

but I kind of started feeling my uni-brow.

Once I got into fashion,

I was really appreciated for my uni-brows.

My dad played pro basketball overseas

and we would always travel with him.

Traveling and theater definitely molded my taste in fashion.

I get my style inspiration from so many people.

Andre 3000 is definitely one of them.

Michael Jackson, Prince, Rihanna.

I'm gonna put my durag back on.

I've never done nothing like this before.

I've always really struggled with confidence.

I felt very insecure just considering all things.

I love you guys.

Thank you for taking this morning with me to get ready

and have this little talk.

I'm about to take my ass back to sleep.

Sending you all love. All good energy.

Peace, y'all.
