[gentle upbeat music]

Hi, guys.

Shay Mitchell here.

I'm going to take you through my skincare routine

and my everyday makeup look.

There are quite a few steps, so, stick with me.

Every single morning, when I wake up,

I may or may not check my phone.

So when I come in the bathroom,

the first thing I have to do is wash my hands.

So my next step is my cleanser.

This cleanser is super gentle.

It's like the perfect sort of balance for my skin.

I found this at a drug store in Canada.

Then I add about that much.

And I feel like this also helps

just like exfoliate a little bit as well.

So I keep a little fridge in my bathroom

and this guy is one of the things that I keep in there.

It's a little ice roller.

Ah, it just feels so nice.

One thing I love to do is that do under eye masks,

it just allows your makeup to set on really nice

without being super greasy underneath.

Now, you're gonna see quite a few masks

and the reason why I like them,

is just because I feel like they're very hydrating.

I put them on, I don't have to think about it.

I love the drama of it.

I think I look funny.

I like to scare people when I'm traveling, especially,

or when I'm just at home.

So this is FlashPatch and it's Hydrating Lip Gels.

If I have time, I really go full out with my skincare

'cause it's like, why not?

It feels good.

I'm going to also do this forehead mask.

As you can see, I make a lot of expressions with my face.

This is by skyn ICELAND.

I, ah, just, everything feels so cool.

I'm like a skin mask superhero right now.

So there we go.

I feel like these are very specific to the area,

but this next mask that I'm gonna put on

is by one eleven or one, one, one skin, I don't know.

Okay, so now I am fully covered.

I never like to waste the juice of the mask.

So I pour it into my hands,

and I rub it on my neck.

I have this really cool item

that I actually found when I was in Japan,

'cause I obviously scoured the whole skin section there.

Perfect Lifting Premium V Mask.

It looks like this.

So you just put it under like the,

and then you wrap it around your ears, like so.

I mean, it feels like it's doing something

and I kind of figured out like those bands you use

when you're working out,

this was also like that.

I actually got this from Honest.

Thank you, Jessica.

So, I wanna keep all of this on for like a good 15 minutes.

Then this is crucial to keeping everything untucked.

I have this wand.

This is actually by Nurse Jamie.

I also have a mask for my hoo-has.

24 Karat Breast Masks.

Your boobs need love too, you know?

Especially if you're going on an event

and you have a low cut dress.

So, here they are.

Okay, guys, so there you have it.

I'm not being a little R-rated.

Trust that this is on correctly.

Goes right around here and here.

What I like to do for my chest area

while all this is sitting

is use this La Mer Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream.

I take a little bit of it out like that.

[gentle upbeat music]

Ta-da!

Okay, so now that I've taken everything off,

this is the time when I'd like to go in

and just massage my face.

So if I feel like I need a little bit of extra serum

before I go in and do my facial massage,

I like to use this Rose Serum,

this is by 123 Farm.

And I just put a couple drops on my hand, rub it in.

[gentle upbeat music]

I do use my hands.

And, I'm always pretty gentle with the skin,

and I would only do this if I had enough serum

that was easy to glide over on my skin.

So, this gua sha that I use is from Wildling.

I come in here about three strokes.

Always pretty gentle with this,

just 'cause you don't wanna pull your skin,

otherwise it will do the opposite.

I like to give it a little zinger when I hit the end.

And then I come in with this flatter side.

Pull back.

So, I am quite a believer in any thing you can do

to de-puff your skin.

So, if I'm getting ready for an event,

or, you know, any sort of photo shoot,

then I like to make sure that a few days before,

I don't load up on sodium

because my skin does puff up quite easily.

So, I drink a lot of water before an event.

I don't eat a lot of salt.

And then I'm a big believer in lymphatic drainage,

especially for my body, but also for my face.

You really do notice just how much your skin

has just released a lot of the fluid.

And, again, I sleep on my face,

that's why sometimes when I wake up in the morning,

I feel a little bit like a puffer fish.

So, last but not least, the last massager that I use,

this one by Shani Darden.

And I just come in, and, again,

I'm always just sort of holding my skin taut a little bit.

After all that is done,

I'm actually going to take a warm cloth

and just take everything down a little bit,

just because when I'm gonna be applying makeup after this,

I don't want anything to slip and slide.

And just kind of take all of these serums

and extra mask juice off.

Speaking of which, now I'm gonna take off

my 24 karat boob masks.

First things first,

I like to come in with an undereye cream.

This one is by Kiehl's.

I'll take about that much.

[gentle upbeat music]

So, as you can see, I have a melasma spot there,

I also have a few more down here

that was courtesy of being pregnant.

I'd say my skin actually didn't change that much

when I was pregnant, except for the melasma.

Thank you.

It's fine.

Just little reminders.

My little gift .

The next thing that I do for my undereyes,

which, honestly, is a big secret,

it's this Basic Organics Vitamin E Wheat Germ Oil Aloe Vera.

So, I put about that much on, rub it in,

and it's pretty sticky.

So, I just go in there and pat.

I also pat a little bit above my eye.

I put it on heavier before I go to sleep at night.

'Cause in my mind it feels like it helps my eyebrows grow.

Just put that over, a little bit over my lips,

'cause it's vitamin E, so it doesn't hurt anybody.

When I travel, I'm a lot more curious about skincare.

So I always come home with a suitcase of new masks to try,

or chin straps, as you guys saw earlier.

I love seeing what other people use

and what also like natural things.

I know my mom growing up in the Philippines

is, you know, such a huge believer of coconut oil,

and just everywhere, skin, nails, cooking, hair.

You name it, coconut oil.

So I always find that to be really interesting

when I travel,

just getting a better sense of, like, what they use,

what they've grown up using,

and what their, you know, secrets are.

This is a Super Serum Advanced+ by iS CLINICAL.

It just helps brighten your skin.

I do about three drops. [claps hands]

I always have to have sunscreen.

So, this is again by iS CLINICAL.

This is SPF 50+.

Okay, so now that that is sort of soaking in,

I also have to come in

and take care of my lips right now

just to give 'em some extra moisture,

so when I'm applying my makeup, it's not all crackly.

So, I use Aquaphor.

Next, moisturizer that I like to use is by Tata Harper,

Illuminating Moisturizer.

My skincare is, as you can see, quite a lot.

I don't know if Matte has picked up on really any of it.

He's pretty simple with his skincare.

So, as much as I like to try and use him as, like,

a little guinea pig, when it comes to trying out new things,

he's pretty built basic and his skin is really good.

It's really just me that's extra in the house.

Atlas is now also, though.

Like, always wanting me to spritz her face

if I ever do sort of like a water spritz,

or a little hydration thing,

she always just stands there with her eyes closed.

So I give her a little spritz in some water

or something like that.

Super cute.

So, as you can see, there's like a little sheen to it,

but it's really subtle.

And I just feel like the makeup just sits on top of it.

So nice.

So, last but not least, before I move on to makeup,

I love to always start with this Fenty Beauty spray.

I also feel like, if this is what Rihanna uses,

and this is what gets her skin to glow,

then I probably should also drink it.

I'm kidding, I'm not gonna drink it.

Don't drink this.

Spray it, but, you know, I just always think Rihanna.

Now, I'm gonna just jump right in

and I'm gonna start with my foundation that I use.

Currently, I'm really into RCMA.

Shinto II and III are my colors.

So, I like to actually take Shinto III,

which is a little bit of a darker color,

and start with that.

[gentle upbeat music]

I love this cream foundation,

just because I feel like I can be really detailed

with where I put it,

because I use two different shades,

it also helps with like the natural contour,

I feel, like, as well.

I also like to do a little color correcting.

So, as you can see, I use this quite a bit,

but, I'll just come in there

with a little bit more of the orange-y red.

Just to lighten it up a little bit,

and I think it helps when the foundation goes on top of it.

I like to come in with a little bit of the brightener,

which is like the purple under here.

'Cause this, I feel like, you always wanna be super light.

And then I feel like, if I can remember from school,

green cancels red.

So I also take a little bit of the green,

and, if you know, I feel a little bit red-y on my nose,

I just come in with that there,

just to neutralize everything.

And, again, I'm just gonna come in

a little bit with the purple

just to lighten up my chin area as well.

Back to the foundation.

So, I come in, my Shinto II.

Pat, pat, pat.

[gentle upbeat music]

So, the next step that I'm gonna do is my contour.

I use a Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate.

I get quite a bit on.

Makeup for me has always been really fun.

I've never taken it too serious.

'Cause I don't know how you would.

And I feel like, you know,

there's some days where I don't wear anything,

and I just do my skincare and I walk out of the house,

and I feel pretty good about that too.

But then there's other days

where you just want a little bit of a base.

And the makeup that I'm doing today

is kind of, like, a little heavier than I would normally do,

but this is, again, it's everyday makeup,

it's pretty natural.

And I just feel like I'm ready for anything.

It's funny, 'cause as my skin is ever going through

some breakouts, I actually wear less makeup.

I don't even try and cover it.

I'm like, I don't care what the world sees.

I need my skin to heal for itself,

so I want it to breathe.

And then, therefore, I use less products, I use less makeup,

and I really just try and be super minimal

with what I put on my skin just so it can heal itself.

Next, I'm gonna come in with this little side, tap, tap.

So, I actually like to bring this, as you can see,

from my eyelid crease and down,

just 'cause I feel like it looks more natural.

Underneath, look at that.

So the concealer that I like to use is Tarte's Shape Tape.

This is in Medium.

I also like to come in with the NARS Creamy Concealer

in Macadamia.

I'll start with Tarte.

[gentle upbeat music]

I also like to come in with NARS a little bit.

[gentle upbeat music]

So I like to do like my concealer after contour

because I'm actually gonna contour again after all of this,

it gives me a little bit of a base,

and then I blend it into the contour.

If I do it the other way around,

sometimes I feel like I just

completely take out all of the concealer

when I do my contour.

I mean, honestly,

I don't think there's any wrong way to do it.

It's also just a way

that a lot of makeup artists I've worked with do

so I just try to emulate them as much as I can.

[gentle upbeat music]

I'm going to come in with my two powders,

both by Laura Mercier.

This is just the Translucent.

I also have it in a Medium Deep color as well

'cause I like to use a little bit of a darker shade powder

for my contour on the outside.

I use my sponge.

I just dip it in, pat-patting my hand a little bit

just so it's even,

and then I'll actually just

make sure I have no creases under my eyes.

[gentle upbeat music]

Powder is just, I mean, for me, it's crucial

so that it keeps my makeup in place.

Now, I'm gonna come in

with a little bit of the darker shade.

Actually, I do a little mixing of my own.

So I'm mixing it a little bit.

I use just a really small amount

and then I just use my wrist to, like, bang off the excess.

When I'm playing a few shows,

I've done my own makeup on set.

So, I actually, quite fast at doing this

when I'm not filming it.

I could probably do my makeup in about 30 minutes.

For a little bit more contour, 'cause you can't get enough,

I'm gonna come in with good old Hoola.

I love this by Benefit.

I just feel like this contouring color, as you can see,

is really good because it has cooler undertones.

So I'm actually gonna attempt this TikTok trend

that I've been seeing recently of how to contour your nose.

So I'm gonna take this

and I'm gonna put it in the middle of my nose.

I mean, not bad.

So, if you don't wanna do that,

you don't wanna test out that TikTok trend,

you can come in there, normal brush, like I normally do.

I've learned so much on social media

from, like, little cooking hacks,

to different beauty things that I'm always curious

just to see what other people are doing.

I want to just come in here one more time.

[gentle upbeat music]

Another bronzer that I absolutely love.

This is a little bit more on the pricier side.

This is the Serge Lutens.

Just the way it goes on and the color,

it's a little bit deeper

and just has a really warming effect,

I just use a little bit of it.

I'm going to now come in with just a little bit of color.

Also love this one by Benefit.

When I do do blush, it's this one,

I don't know the brand of it,

but a makeup artist from Pretty Little Liars

gave this to me.

Okay, so I just like to come in super light with this.

I do a little bit in my nose 'cause I saw Doja Cat do that,

and I like it.

If I'm applying blush, it is this brush and nothing else.

Now I've done that, my blush, my base.

I'm going to come in with my eyebrows.

The eyebrow pencils that I love and live by

are the Kelley Baker ones.

I feel like my brows have definitely gone through a journey

as has my whole, like, physical appearance.

When I was younger, all of my friends had blonde hair,

blue eyes.

So I would dye my hair light, stay out of the sun,

would wear colored contacts.

It was not a good time, but I wanted to fit in,

and I was in, you know, elementary to high school,

and that was a time where I, you know,

wanted to really just fit in with my friends.

But now I feel like, you know,

with all the different tips and tricks that I've learned,

I really do just try to enhance what I have

and work with it,

and that's what I think just makes people beautiful

is when they just really enhance what they were born with.

[gentle upbeat music]

Well, I'm going to show you guys

something you may or may not know,

but this is the definite beauty secret in Hollywood.

This göt2b by Schwarzkopf.

Glue is what I actually use to keep my eyebrows up.

So, I take a little bit.

Honestly, about that much.

And I just rub it into my hands, like so,

and then I'll take this little, like, wand brush.

When I was in elementary school,

I thought it was the best idea

to overtweeze my brows like crazy.

I'm actually very fortunate

that they've managed to grow back

after all the damage I had done to them.

Now, I'm going to move on to my eyeshadow.

The eye shadow palette that I have in my kit, by Mario.

I love all the colors in here

'cause I'm pretty neutral when it comes to my makeup.

I'm gonna start with, like, this color.

[gentle upbeat music]

All right, and then after that,

I come in with a smaller brush.

I'll again, come in with these two shades.

I've had quite a few war stories when it comes to makeup

and being on shoots back in PLL days,

we'd be doing a press or a photo shoot

and I'd work with a makeup artist

I'd never worked with before,

and I think just, like, my skin tone,

maybe they weren't used to working on it as much,

but I just, like, I would never feel comfortable

in my own skin when somebody new had done my makeup,

that, you know, I just didn't vibe with

or I felt like understood the coloring of my skin, you know?

And, it sucks.

It sucks that somebody who doesn't have, you know,

the colors that they need to your skin

or don't understand the undertones of it,

blah, blah, blah.

So, for me,

if I know how to do at least the bare minimum and a base

to where I can feel comfortable, then I'm good.

This is Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish.

And I like coming in with this little brush,

just under my eye.

So this is something I will bring with me no matter what.

The Surratt eyelash curler and I'm obsessed with it.

This is one that's really good.

Especially if you have almond-shaped eyes.

So, I like to start from the base,

then I come out to the middle,

and then I do the top.

So I do it in three steps.

Mascara that I love, BADgal Bang! by Benefit.

I just wanna do a little bit of a zigzag motion

from the base, up.

If it gets a little too clumpy,

I also have this metal little poker

which you really wanna be careful about.

I've stabbed myself one too many times.

I am known to put on individuals.

I love individual lashes.

I put a little bit of my glue.

I use the DUO one in Dark.

So, I take my eyelash, dump it in the glue.

[gentle upbeat music]

Now, I'm gonna go in it with a little bit of a highlight

by REFY.

So, I love this.

I put a little bit on my hand, about that much.

Take this brush, tap, tap, and then come in.

[gentle upbeat music]

I'm a big fan of Kylie's blush.

Now, for my lip liner,

I'm using Buxom's color in Hush Hush Henna.

My good friend, Camila Coelho, has Elaluz.

I'm also gonna come in with Kylie's high gloss,

just a little bit lighter.

Okay, now, just a couple of final touches

that I always do at the end,

is I enhance my little bit mole here.

This is the Major Brow Lamination Gel.

And I just like to come in a little bit more,

mind these guys, that their job was to stay up for the day.

Like I said, I always pay attention to my chest as well.

So I tap this big brush.

Now, for my scent.

This is the new perfume fragrance by Cacharel.

It's Yes I Am Glorious.

[spritzing sound]

A couple spritz of that.

And we are ready for the day.

Thank you guys so much for watching.

I hope you picked up a few tips and tricks,

and if not,

well, you saw the million and one ways that I get ready.

So, thank you and I'll see you soon.

[kiss sound]

[gentle upbeat music]
